NY.  Evi Siskos, left, who represented Samaná province in the recent Miss Dominican Republic pageant, yesterday affirmed that drug trafficking money bought the crown that she says she deserved for her “hard work and preparation.”

In a press conference in New York City, the local beauty accused Miss Dominican Republic, Delia Fernandez (right), of “buying” the title for US$100,000, and asked pageant owner Donald Trump to investigate.

Fernandez will represent the country in the Universe Miss 2011 contest.

Why would anybody pay that kind of money to win a national beauty pageant?

Where is the logic? It does not make sense, unless she has a very rich drug dealer boyfriend, who has money to burn and just wanted to make her win just to show off his queen. I heard this is common and frequently done in Colombia. Many of the contestants are the girl friends of very rich drug dealers, but I don't think the DR has yet the same drug culture as in this South American country. At least I hope we dont.
