New York.- Johanna Sambucini, who competed as Miss City of Dreams, won the title in Sunday night’s Miss New York USA 2012. She is a native of Dominican Republic, according to her biography.
She will represent New York this summer at the Miss USA 2012 crown and if she wins, will represent the United States in the Miss Universe 2012 pageant.
"The graduate student and model's ambitions and activities include modeling, acting, and playing the piano," according to her blog, quoted by news source examiner.com.

Even in Haiti there was a remote village comprised of ex-polish soldiers families, who where left behind by the french, and they where all blond with blue eyes. So forget about typical phenotypes.
From: United States
Roy-Because of the extent of our racial mixture, there is no such thing as "typical" in the Dominican Republic. There is everything and anything under the sun, a wide range of phenotypes can be found in our nation as genuinely Dominican.
Perhaps you may be referring to Sambucini's slim Euro type body as our women tend to be voluptuous, curvy, rounded and shapely. Only in this sense do I agree she may not "typical." However, what you miss is that in order to compete and become a winner most of these contestants enter into a strict, starvation diet. The end result is an attractic but anorexic looking female, which is what they seek but required to meet and satisfy standards to win. However, as soon as it is all over and done they return to their normal eating habits and weight
From: Canada
Generoso ... about those white polish Haitians ... you may be interested to know of the rumours out of northern china of villages composed entirely of blond haired blue eyed people who speak chinese and act chinese and have been there a very long time, but are clearly not asian ... hmmm ... neat story anyway ...
From: United States
FedricoD-The rumors of isolated Chinese villages made up entirely of blue eye/blond hair natives is exactly that, rumors and a exaggeration. There is no proof thus far to conclusively substantiate that claim. However, there is some evidence of a possible European link during the height of the Roman Empire back some 2000 years of descendents from legionaries lost in antiquity.
Nevertheless, there are studies being performed to determine why an unusual number of local people with clearly distinctive caucasian characteristics such as light colored eyes, leptorrhine noses, and even blonde hair have mixed with traditional Chinese/Asian features. Although, quite facinating, one thing is for a local group of natives to carry European genes but it is another to have a whole community of Scandinavians who speak only Chinese, can take a wok and cook up a mean plate of stir fried rice.

In contrast, Australian soup is composed of, mostly, white Lima-bean with maybe, a little bit of aborigine, thrown in; not much taste there! ….So, having a Dominican, is like a box of cho-clits. You never know what you’ll get, unless you taste….and eat….her.

From: United States
Federico-No, with regards to Polish soldiers bought over by Napoleon to fight in combat, it is fact, nothing to do with rumors. The difference between Haiti and China is that the arrival of Poles to Haiti happened not long ago. It is relatively recent history and can be easily verified with out much fanfare. In fact, some of the great grand children or descendants of these men are likely to still be alive today and can provide tangible evidence or their own personal version of history. But fact is out of the 5200 Poles who fought only 240 actually became and remained Haitian citizens.
As for the Chinese with mixed Caucasian features, there is no one to ask, no recorded history to support the allegations other then physical traits and DNA testing to give us evidence of a European past. But genetic results is not totally conclusive. It only verifies the presence of Europeans but leaves many other questions unaswered and does not firmly explain the who, why, what, where and when

""Scientists have found marine fossils in the tallest of Mountains peaks.""
Indeed they have. Even in the driest of deserts!
In Earth's estimated 4.6 billion years of geologic activity, it is theorized that almost every square centimeter of earths surface has, at one time or another, been submerged by shallow seas.
It is also theorized, that these seas, because of the churning of the hot waters, made it possible for the proto-life forms to emerge and evolve into complex life forms.
Continentals drifts, made it possible for surfaced land to repeatably, sink and rise, and plate tectonics to form huge mountain chains. This process continues, even today.... In a billion years' time, earth's map of our dry surface, won't look anything like it does today.
From: United States
Exactly as you said Ron, "It is also theorized....." and so forth and what not.
We also have a right to a theory and I guess that makes us even...........don't you think? Or are atheist the only ones who are entitled to have a theory? It is a matter of pick and choose because at this point neither you nor I knows or had the real exact answer. At this point it is still a matter of theory and hypothesis.
At least I would not bet on either one. I will keep my money in the bank.

guillermone, you need to understand the difference between a "theory" that is accepted by every real scientist, with masses of evidence across many disciplines, and ancient Jewish mythology, that has no credible evidence in reality, what-so-ever.
From: Canada
Okay you Flooders ... Roy ... Yes ... I accept Noah's flood and would guess it was less than 10,000 years ago ... anywhere I have been on this earth there always is some evidence of massive water action ... as to the theories about the age of the earth, well there have only ever been two theories submitted and both have compelling arguements in my opinion, one the earth is very old in the Billions of years or it is a rather young and measurable time frame ...
of course there are proponents on both sides of the issue, I am not here to debate it with anyone, just expressing my opinion ... why do I believe this? do I have academic credentials of any kind? (actually yes), have I observed first hand a variety of instances that geographically suggest this (yes), could I even point to modern technology and suggest that their exists 'science' to back up this young earth postion as forcefully as the old earth position (yes) do I run around and jam my opinion down the throat of others?
From: Canada
NO .. but for all that the lady in the picture is gorgeous but worthless if she has no brains to go with it ...

To the gullible gillermone,
"Several years ago, in the Sydney Morning Herald, as one geologist to another, I publicly challenged Dr Snelling (the young-earth creationist version) to a public debate, before our geological peers, on a subject close to his heart - Noah's Flood - The Geological Case For and Against. I've repeated the challenge several times since then and it still stands. For reasons best known only to himself, Dr Snelling has declined to defend the creationist cause.
In the light of the above I suggest the reason is obvious. In his heart, and as a trained geologist, he knows that the young-earth model is a load of old codswallop and is totally indefensible."
Dr Alex Ritchie received his BSc. (Hons) in Geology and a Ph.D at the University of Edinburgh. He worked as a palaeontologist at the Australian Museum from 1968 to 1995 where he is currently a Research Fellow.

Here's a quote from your one of "Creation Scientist" Dr Snelling's papers
"The oldest rocks in the Koongarra area, domes of granitoids and granitic gneiss, are of Archaean age (ie to geologists this means they are older than 2500 million years). The Archaean rocks are mantled by Lower Proterozoic (younger than 2500 million years) metasediments: all were later buried deeply, heavily folded and, between 1870 and 1800 million years ago, were subjected to regional metamorphism at considerable temperatures and pressures."
Kinda conflicts with the 6,000-year-old Biblical Creation, wouldn't you say?
From: United States
I am aware ot the possible flaws in the creationist theory, but just on that alone does not make scientific theory automatically right. If creationist arguments have holes, so does scientific theory. And just because many scientists agree that by itself does not make it infallible either. A scientist who publically deviates from the accepted norm, would be considered an odd ball and would prefer to remain silent for fear of being ridiculed then to risk "credibility" regardless of personal beliefs. There are plenty of Crypto-creationists among the scientific community but you would never know.
Unfortunately, what we have today is a society hell hostage to "groupthink." If I don't agree with what the group thinks, well then you are "gullible." Individuallity is out of fashion and our culture is in thrall, intellectually enslaved to groupthink, corrals people, forces them to conform and make them believe in something not completely proven but to do otherwise makes one a fool.

{"Unfortunately, what we have today is a society hell hostage to "groupthink."}
Exactly, Guillermone! That's what religions, or rather, creationism is all about!....There's just one norm, one view, and nothing can deviate from that.
In contrast, science's theories are highly flexible, constantly changing with new discoveries and new ways to see things. It may or may not surprise you, but the very scientific theories proposed are the ones given the most scrutiny and challenges.
There has been many a physicist who've tried to debunk Einstein's quantum and relativity theories without success. Which means that they have had plenty of looking- into.... If anything is suspected of being out of sync, the whole theory is given another round of scrutiny until it jives better with the known laws of physics. If not, it remains "as is" until something else comes along that may cast doubt, and given another look-see, and so on.
Science is static; religion, set in stone.
Written by: RoyStone, 18 Jan 2012 9:17 PM

guillermone,
You seem a reasonable thinker, but you have no idea about what the scientific method is. It is not a theory or a collection of theories. It is a way of observing the universe, looking for an explanation, proposing theories, and if it works, accepting it until a better, more accurate explanation is postulated, tested, and more data and evidence is found. It is constantly evolving, improving and expanding. The things that science cannot explain are getting smaller and smaller. In the meantime mankind reaps the benefits with the technologies that flow from it - the practical fruits of science.
Written by: RoyStone, 18 Jan 2012 9:25 PM

Creationism on the other hand, is based on religious faith. By definition, faith is believing something in the total absence of evidence, and even in the face of massive evidence to the contrary. The more preposterous the idea, the more virtuous it is to have faith in it.
Creation "theory" does not have holes in it. It is one big, empty hole, devoid of any evidence! Those pushing it, use scientific fraud to try and "prove" it but it never withstands the scientific method - never! In the end they fall back on ancient, anonymous scripture, mythology and faith.

As we all know, most Dominicans are of Black, (yucca and platanos), and White, (chicken meat, bullion & wine) stock, with a sprinkling of Taino, (herbs and spices), and a dash of Asian (monosodium glutamate), for taste enhancement, soup…. The taste is extraordinaire, and almost orgasmic!
In contrast, Australian soup is composed of, mostly, white Lima-bean with maybe, a little bit of aborigine, thrown in; not much taste there! ….So, having a Dominican, is like a box of cho-clits. You never know what you’ll get, unless you taste….and eat….her.
Ron you are so crude and raunchy.............LOL !!!!
Que perro......................
Now go and put on a prickly shirt and sit in the corner!
(Thanks for the laugh I enjoyed it - especially the cho-clt)
It only verifies the presence of Europeans but leaves many other questions unaswered and does not firmly explain the who, why, what, where and when
I give you an "A+" for the composition but an "F" for censure!
"Roy ... this latest round of humanity post flood is coming from Noah and his wife and their three sons and the exotic wives of the three sons ..."
Excuse me for butting in...
Do you happen to know how long ago this world-wide flood took place, and what race were they?
Scientists have found marine fossils in the tallest of Mountains peaks. Ancient seashell and once living plant life has been discovered all over the world even in places as tall as Mount Everest. It appears as if all mountaintops were submerged under water to indicate the sea once covered them as evidence of a possible global flood.
Interestingly and coincidentally every culture around the world primitive or advance also has their own version of a flood, with the same common theme even cultures with no connection to Christianity.
Thanks for the comedy!
I am glad to see you find humor in the odd, bizarre and the strangest of things.............!
The Great Deluge started Sunday 9th April 4001 BC
I can't be sure of what Noah's race was, because he lived within walking, crawling and slithering distance of every known animal (except unicorns and mermaids).
Roy since you have no respect for anyone other the Aussies, Europeans and Anglo-Americans and some token Asians, please refer to your compatriot Dr. Andrew Snelling.
He holds a Ph.D. in geology from the University of Sydney and has worked as a consultant research geologist to organizations in both Australia and America. He is an author of numerous scientific articles, Dr. Snelling is now the head of the Research Division for an international publication "Answers in Genesis."
I can smell Fish here.
Yep, even Aussies are intitled to their very own nuts!
I must have missed Noah's boat on that one... But just for the sake of world deluge... It has been raining non-stop for two days in SFdeM. My dinggy is prepared already.... And I AM TAKING HER WITH ME! What a hottie! We can have many many babies and re-populate this part of the world with bi-racial babies anytime. Lmao
What was this Noah stuff all about?
I will keep my money in the bank.
guillermone, you need to understand the difference between a "theory" that is accepted by every real scientist, with masses of evidence across many disciplines, and ancient Jewish mythology, that has no credible evidence in reality, what-so-ever.
of course there are proponents on both sides of the issue, I am not here to debate it with anyone, just expressing my opinion ... why do I believe this? do I have academic credentials of any kind? (actually yes), have I observed first hand a variety of instances that geographically suggest this (yes), could I even point to modern technology and suggest that their exists 'science' to back up this young earth postion as forcefully as the old earth position (yes) do I run around and jam my opinion down the throat of others?
{"Unfortunately, what we have today is a society hell hostage to "groupthink."}
Creation "theory" does not have holes in it. It is one big, empty hole, devoid of any evidence! Those pushing it, use scientific fraud to try and "prove" it but it never withstands the scientific method - never! In the end they fall back on ancient, anonymous scripture, mythology and faith.
