Santo Domingo.- The third tremor in as many weeks has shaken many parts of the Dominican Republic, no reports of damages or injuries thus far.
The US Geodetic Survey reports the quake's epicenter at 123 kilometers (76 miles) North of Santo Domingo, at a depth at 7.4 km (4.6 miles).
The latest tremor was felt only for a few seconds at 5:01pm in the country's capital, prompting the evacuation of the 23 story high Acropolis Center, the country's tallest office building. It also briefly shut down the Web sites of major newspapers.
The Santo Domingo State University’s Seismologic Institute said the quake’s center was in the town of Gaspar Hernandez, on the Atlantic coast.

We need to hear more talks from scientist as to whether this IS leading up to an extremely large one. Three 5 point something earthquakes within weeks of each other isn't a coincidence and obviously there are pressure pockets that are about to burst! Ayudanos!
From: Dominican Republic, vieja Santo Domingo
little thing ...prior to the big one in Haiti,,there were almost daily tremors in la Romana and Higuey and when the big one came it was at the other end of the island and without forecast and went in a northerly direction,,so the scientists have been of little use in the past

You guys really don't need the BIG one (we're talking earthquakes, right?)...a bunch of sustained small ones will do the jobs just as well.....man, that sounds so gay....but how else would you put it?
