New York.– Dominican nanny Nubia Del Carmen Preza is suing actress Lindsay Lohan for allegedly hitting her in September, 2010 while she was wheeling a stroller crossing a West Hollywood intersection. Lohan, apparently, ran a red light.
According to press reports, the lawsuit from Preza states that she experienced "disabling and serious personal injuries, pain, suffering and anguish."
This is the second instance where Lindsay was accused of reckless driving. The first claim was made by a paparazzo exclaiming that he was just trying to take pictures of her, and got hit.
TMZ also reports that there is a witness to the nanny’s case. The witness told that popular internet site the stroller she was wheeling actually came off the ground. Steve Honig, Lohan’s spokesperson, stated that he could not make a comment because Lohan and her attorney’s, have been served the lawsuit.

If there is substance to the accusation then there should be criminal proceedings, not a financial settlement as things are done in the Dominican Republic. This may make Americans will think twice before hiring Dominican nannies. My guess is, Preza doesn't care about her country or other Dominican nannies - her settlement will be far more than she could ever earn in a lifetime. I wonder what Preza'a lawyer's cut will be, since it would have to be on a no-win-no-fee basis.
Roy as usual you have distorted the point of the story. What does a pedestrian getting hit by a reckless driver in the States, have anything to do with hiring a Dominican nanny?
The US has a litigious mentality. In essence, even criminals sue for things like not getting smooth peanut butter instead of crunchy while in prison. People order hot coffee, then put it in between their legs and get burned. It is the maker of the hot coffee that is responsible, not the idiot that put it in between the legs.
Nevertheless, lawsuits in in the US is not done directly against the driver but rather to the insurance company. Often times the insurer would rather settle quickly, pay the injured for limits of coverage instead of going into a lengthy litigation. It is much cheaper and better for all parties involved where everyone comes out a winner. US Attorneys in the civil injury cases charge somewhere around 25%-33% of final settement after expenses.
I made it clear I was only guessing. I know no more of the case than what is written here.
Yes I am aware that the USA is a highly litigious country, and the trend is spreading to other countries. A woman in Australia recently sued the employer of her former boss (the CEO) for sexual harassment. She got about $800,000 Australian. She was going for 57 million but agreed to the lesser sum.
Another woman was assaulted and robbed in a McDonalds restaurant. The offender was caught, tried and convicted. However the woman chose not to sue the perpetrator, but McDonalds instead. Easy to guess why.
Wealthy celebrities are often the targets. You got money? Someone else thinks they deserve i more than you.
I'm struggling to see the connection between suing Lindsay Lohan and bathroom renovations.
