Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- The Parents Association of the Punta Cana International School at Punta Cana Village today organized a walk and bicycle to school day, an initiative supported by the sports group Tricana, aimed at encouraging students to take the healthy stroll.

More than half of students, some accompanied by parents, on foot and on bikes headed to school in the morning, while volunteer parents pitched by guarding street corners with signs urging motorist to drive carefully, cyclists to wear helmets, and messages on the health and environmental benefits of walking.

The initiative is accompanied by an orientation program on road safety for school children and Village residents.
