Havana.– Former Cuban president Fidel Castro presented Friday a two-volume book with his memoirs during a six-hour encounter at the Havana Convention Center.
According to official newspaper Granma, the book is called "Fidel castro Ruz: Guerrillero del Tiempo" (Time Warrior) and it spans nearly 1,000 pages and covers Castro's first memories from childhood until December 1958, the eve of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.A smiling, animated Castro speaking to the audience was showed by state television today. The former Cuban leader was wearing a dark track suit over a blue button-up shirt.

No doubt that Fidel is a survivor. He has managed to stay on top no matter what. Of course the feeble and unmotivated Cuban exiles, don't seem to be too concerned, for the liberation of Cuba.
USA behind the scene negotiations with Fidel.
Did Fidel and Co. send Guevara with an offer for the USA to Punta del Este in Aug. 1961? what was the nature of the offer?
What happened to Camilo Cienfuego? Camilo and Raul Castro.
Cuba's involvement in guerrilla movements in the Caribbean, LA and World wide.
etc.
That's when the big stuff happens! And Ramonet's book covers that period, too. So while I'll probably end up reading these two books, until Fidel deals with the period after 1958, we will be left with his take on some events from the Ramonet book.
But I doubt Fidel will ever write honestly about this period while he's still alive, as his take, if honest, would go into many closed off areas and lead to a similar episode like Nikita's take down of the Stalinist veneer.
