New York.– A Dominican, Olga Herrera Carbuccia, was among five new judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) sworn in at a ceremony held at the seat of the Court in The Hague.
The other judges were Howard Morrison (UK), Anthony T. Carmona (Trinidad and Tobago), Chile Eboe-Osuji (Nigerian) and Robert Fremr (Czech Republic). They were elected at the latest session of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute (ASP) in December, 2011, for nine-year terms.
Judge Herrera Carbuccia (1956) has a Doctorate of Law from the University Autónoma of Santo Domingo. She has over 30 years of experience in the judicial function in the fields of criminal law, criminal proceedings and justice administration as Judge and Public Prosecutor.

Bravo, good for her. This is news we like to hear, a positive note for Dominicanos.
This is worth more than 100 home runs by any Dominican-born American baseball player. Let's hope she is the kind of role-model young Dominicans will follow from now on.
Is she the first Dominican judge sworn in to the International Criminal Court?
From San Pedro de Macoris, Judge Olga Herrera Carbuccia was elected amongst four other new judges to the ICC:
The are Judges Howard Morrison (United Kingdom), Anthony T. Carmona (Trinidad and Tobago), Robert Fremr (Czech Republic) and Chile Eboe-Osuji (Nigeria).
"Judges are chosen from among persons of high moral character, impartiality and integrity who possess the qualifications required in their respective countries for appointment to the highest judicial offices".
Olga gives us Dominicans, something more to be proud of.
Go get a cactus to sit in your bare bottom!
PS: I hear than in Azua, a bit farther than San Cristobal, they have some mean cactuses.
GEN-leave your finesse at home, you can be rude and crude with Roy. He can easily take a cactus injection like a man. I hope.
Well at least Lie-onel will have one potential vote when his reign is eventually brought up on charges!
I doubt Leonel will ever face charges, if fact I'd happily put money on it. Not because he is innocent, but because this is the Dominican Republic.
