Santo Domingo.- Production for the horror film Cabin Fever: Patient Zero starts in the Dominican Republic August 13, in which will star Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings franchise, The Goonies), reports horrortalk.com.
It said the film will be directed by comic-book-artist-turned-director Kaare Andrews, with Evan Astrowsky and Hypotenuse Pictures producing it with Indomina. is the original Cabin Fever producer.
“With Sean, we wanted an actor with gravity who is also popular with the fanboy fan-base. Coupling Sean with fresh faces like Ben and Brando gives Cabin Fever the pedigree of cast we’ve always desired,” it said, quoting Astrowsky.
Indomina, a Dominican Republic based producer and distributor, is "...committed to resurrecting the popular Cabin Fever franchise by producing and distributing at least two more feature installments: Cabin Fever: Patient Zero and Cabin Fever: Outbreak." Inomina plans on shooting both movies in the Dominican Republic.
Synopsis:
“When a bachelor party cruise in the Caribbean unexpectedly runs ashore on a medical research island, a deadly virus is unleashed. The passengers must struggle to find a way to survive before their own demons and the flesh eating bacteria consumes them all,” the trade website said.
“I honestly don't know how I feel about this. Does Cabin Fever really need two more movies? Does it even deserver a reboot? Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a fun movie — and I even enjoyed the Ti West directed sequel — but I'd rather see money put into something more original, especially when you consider that two out of three of the screenwriter's films are remakes. That said, I'm eager to be proven wrong. I don't care about remakes, reboots and the like, I just want to be entertained,” adds horrortalk.com.
