Santo Domingo.- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) officially came to the country in 1978, but their numbers have grown to more than 122,000 since the mid-80s when people started learning of their existence though TV and radio spots stressing human values such as honesty, family, solidarity and education, and others.

Their 14.4 million strong global faithful, of which 55,410 are missionaries charged with spreading their gospel with God and Jesus Christ as its center, in addition to the prophets, even today.

The Mormons Church has 28,784 congregations with the top echelon called "First Presidency" formed by three elders, considered living prophets based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
