Los Angeles.– Dominican bachata singer Romeo Santos will be honored as songwriter of the year at the ASCAP Latin Music Awards to take place March 19 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

This is the third time Romeo receives the award. His solo debut album Formula, Vol 1 (Sony) was 2012's top-selling Latin album in the United States.

The singer will kick off the 2013 leg of his Formula Vol. 1 tour March 22 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. The tour includes 17 arena dates and will end April 26 at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.

music is not what it used to be. 25 years ago, he would not be allowed inside a studio. he cannot carry JLG's guitar

That is true but then again I remember my parents saying the music of the 60's & 70's was not what it used to be in their day! I guess it has a lot to do with age!

yes, music is a generational thing. however, with tv, and shows like MTV, it is more of spectacle, rather than art. it is all technology, and sampling, rather than talent. there is nobody around in popular music today that has 10% of the talent of the Beatles.

Yes the Beatles, who were very much my era of music, had a talent that will outlive many of those so called "stars" of today.
