Santo Domingo.- Veteran comic-cum actor Cuquín Victoria, who’s part of a generation that left its mark on television and other scenarios, took home the "Gran Soberano” (Grand Sovereign) award Tuesday night at the gala staged at the National Theatre

Victoria received the prize from Dominican National Brewery resident Franklin Leon and José Antonio Aybar, president of the social press journalists grouped in Acroarte, in recognition not only to his outstanding work last year, but a career spanning more than 40 years.

Cuquín stood out in a generation which stood out in slapstick as well as stand-up comedy, shared with the late greats Freddy Beras Goico, Milton Peláez and Luisito Marti, among others.

The also comics Cecilia García and Felipe Polanco (Boruga) were present to congratulate Victoria.
