US Embassy celebrates International Education Week

Santo Domingo.- FromMonday the 16th to Sunday Nov. 22 the US Embassy in Santo Domingowith the support of the EducationUSA office of the Dominican American CulturalInstitute and Galeria 360 will be hosting International Education Week, aglobal event that celebrates the benefits of education and student exchange.

Visitors to the Embassy´sstand at Galeria 360 will enjoy an interactive exhibit and other activities andlectures, where they can obtain information on study opportunities andscholarships in the UA.

International EducationWeek starts on Monday with an opening ceremony to be attended by US ambassador JamesW. Brewster in Galeria 360´s Central Lobby at 6pm.

The US Embassy willpresent a briefing on the process to apply for student visas and panels withthe participation of ex-trainees who will share the experience of participatingin programs such as Humphrey and Fulbright scholarships.

In an emailed statementthe US Embassy said the activities slated for the weekend include attractionsfor the family such as a mock English lessons for children and musicalperformances with the participation of people who´ve studied in the US, amongothers.

“Similarly theactivities of the International Education Week will be extended to universitiesand cultural centers in the Dominican Republic such as UNIBE, INTEC, UNAPEC,the Dominican-American Cultural Institute and yjr Dominican-American CulturalCenter in Santiago.”
