US Embassy hosts Hispanic Heritage Month festivities

Santo Domingo – The USEmbassy on Tuesday announced Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, promotedthrough the Latinos´ numerous cultural contributions to American culture andsociety. This US will host this year´s festivity from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

"Throughout ourhistory, our nation has been enriched by past records of all who call Americahome. The Hispanic community in the United States has woven with threads onlyin the diverse fabric of our country and plays an important role in theformation of our national character as the people of unlimited possibility,"said president Barack Obama in this year´s presidential proclamation

“The US Embassy hasorganized a series of events during the months of September and October. OnFriday September 25 at 8:30 pm, the Embassy of the United States within the XIInternational Festival of Contemporary Dance (Edanco 2015), will host the"Noche Puertoriqueña" supporting the visit of 28 dancers of the companyBallet Andanza Concierto of Puerto Rico and the dance company Coda 21,” the USEmbassy said in a statement.

It said twocomplimentary tickets can be obtained by registering in the www.goo.gl/jOMPl2 website.

Among the other eventsorganized by the US Embassy figures a showing of the PBS documentary with LatinMusicUSAstudents of the Dominican American Cultural Institute in Santo Domingo, onThursday, October 15th at 6:00 pm. “This last screening will be followed by aDiscussion on the Hispanic influence on American music, led by former granteesof the United States Embassy graduates in musical studies.”

It adds that USALatinMusic documentary highlights the great American music created by Latinosand Latin American rhythms celebrated living in the heart of jazz, rock,country, and rhythm and blues.
