Santo Domingo.– Spanish singer Julio Iglesias sang some of his best known numbers at a benefit performance in the seat of government of the Dominican Republic, "a country I love with all my heart."

Accompanied by five musicians and three back-up singers, Iglesias on Monday used all the experience of his long stage career to overcome poor sound equipment and a problem with one of his legs that limited his movements. "I've just turned 65, but onstage I lose 20," the Madrid native said with a big smile.

"Quijote", "Ni Contigo, Ni Sin Ti" (Neither With or Without You) and "Natalie" were the first melodies he sang, before "Echame a Mi La Culpa" (Put the Blame on Me) which he described as "the most beautiful song in Spanish."

Again and again Iglesias mentioned his love for the Caribbean nation, and addressing President Leonel Fernandez said: "How great it is to be president of such a blessed country."

The most successful non singer in history. With what he spends on hair dye you could pay off the national debt!

benCardozo it has very small rooms ...european businessman ...hotel Conde Penalba on the parque Colon would be my choice bigger rooms and ask for a balcony on the park second or third floor much more fun than mercure and the same amenities maybe even a little cheaper 809 688 7121 both are good people watching places but the Conde Penalba is considerably more interesting

I think the main point is being missed. What was the charity? That is the headline...but no mention whatsoever. Charity usually goes to those in dire need.

Please....if it is worth the headline....name the charity.

Merry Christmas from the East!

Julio Iglesias,
His soothing voice was his style. You guy are jealous because women of his generation drooped for him.
