SANTO DOMINGO.- The 10th European Development Fund (EDF), worth 180 million Euros, was inaugurated July 1, of which France contributes 19 percent (34.2 million Euros) that will be used in several projects aimed at fighting poverty, on several infrastructure projects, as well as to bolster governance.

France ambassador Cécile Pozzo di Borgo, detailing the new 2008 to 2013 cooperation program for newspaper Caribe, said the 9th EDF, from 2001-2008, had 176 million Euros, of  which France contributed 42.2 million, or 24 percent

She said the funds will be used to continue many concrete projects, among them aqueducts, highways and schools, whose objective to contribute to fight poverty, for the country’s development and support governance. “These programs are going to continue with more funds to continue the projects that help fight against the poverty and with the environment.”

The diplomat said the French embassy conducts several projects in Elías Piña province (west), chosen because it’s the country’s poortest.

Don't send it! We don't need it!

WE actually got too much money (best kept secret but to the Haitians who keep flocking in looking for it).

All the politiqueros, military and narcos know that; they're the ones full of it. So, mo'money for the same "bad guys", and the poor will stay where they belong. In the poorhouse.

It's so sad that all these governments throw money at the DR so that the government can even steal this.

The responsibility to assist the poor rest's squarely on the shoulders of the DR governement and not on foreign aid.

With all the SUV's running around the DR is no longer a country that requires foreign aid.

LOL

I'll explain how it works. Some of the money up to 25% will be invested in some visible project, the rest of the money get split between Dominican handlers and whoever in France that allocated the funds. Thats how you steal money from your country and never get an audit !!!

Otherwise ask the French Ambassadeur

Rubirosa, despite my many criticisms of you in the past, you have restored my faith in humanity by making a very fair statement. the same applies to arcatype. you gentlemen, despite your indefatigable antipathy towards Haiti and its people, do have a sense of fairness. sadly, once again, the thread has to have been devalued by the rabid musings of anthonyc, who offers that the problems of Haiti lie squarely with its people. it is high time that the moderator requires that prospective posters submit their IQ scores, and disqualifies those whose number is in single digits. anthonyc would then have to concentrate his energies on sweeping the floor at Goldman Sachs, all the while telling his friends in valverde mao that he is George Soros!

Hi my parents are from the Domincan Republic . I know that there is a lot of different point of views . But the point is why not start from the hospitals help the sick . Than cope with hope of thechildren that need more food production in the schools . Like in stead of raising the prices of the homes give the poor homes. Here in the U.S. rich people are building homes for the American's Stop looking the Doller of How much France can give but look at what they can help with endorcing money for schools and fund for the children can go to school and have healthly meals that are for free for the children. Also keep in mind that if the Domininan Republic dose not help the poor like in that picture Clean up , Clean up , that enviroment . It is not fair for tourist to come a spend time and see this kind of filth that just dose not bring interest to visit the island.
