Santo domingo.- It could be any barrio, slum or even ghetto in the Dominican Republic.

The residents of one of Santo Domingo’s most impoverished barrios, Las Cañitas, decided to protest to demand the repairs of what once were their streets.

But instead of the usual burning of tires and throwing stones at anti-riot police, they planted banana trees –right down the middle of what is now a dusty path, which turns into a mudslide from the lightest rain.

Now that's a great constructive and strategic idea, in a few years time they will able to pick-up the platanos from the street and for free

Excellent example of passive agressive behavior, usually more effective then a more destructive conflictive approach.
