BAHORUCO, Dominican Republic.- President Leonel Fernandez yesterday handed out thousands of Christmas baskets to poor families in the South region and said among his main goals next year is to continue reactivating the economy.

Fernandez said the economy’s rebound has begun to be felt during December. “For next year still more, with that, it’s obvious, the Dominican population’s social welfare will improve, that is our fundamental goal that the economy manages to reactivate itself for 2010."

As to the handout of boxes containing foods the chief executive noted that it’s become a tradition and that the Government’s main goal is to try to deliver them to all poor families.

The President handed out the first of the baskets to a poor family in Neyba, and then visited Azua, concluding his tour in San Cristóbal province.

Scum bag moron.

50 weeks out of the year this guy screws them every time he can.

The last 2 week he becomes their friends....

I'd throw the food back at him, but they can not.

They are hungry and illiterate, the way he wants them.

Giving is really nice.

Dear Santa,

All I want for Christmas this year is a President with back bone like... stay out of international politics we make friends but create new enemy's as well, to understand the real meaning of leadership, stay in Country more invite foreign leaders here, make new Latin America friends, help build the DR's infrastructure, aide the poor with good paying JOBS, rebuild our Educational system, stop this path to the "New Mexico" of the Caribbean.

Now Santa I can go on but I wont, you see I don't want to overload your giving powers.

Santa is this too much to ask for ?

I do believe in Santa, I do believe in Santa, I do I do I do.

I repeat myself again, I believe that this is a great gesture coming from the president, but he needs to put it into his small head that one year is made up of 365 days and our people eat everyday, not just on Christmas.

Well there you have it folks. The king, by virtue of his generous gifts to the poor, has ended our economic problems. There are no jobs, there is no education, there is nothing. Butt (sic) the king has spoken.

There seems to be much hatred against Dominican Yorkers from normal Dominicans and equal hatred by Dominican Yorkers against the DR ....all i know is that the economic growth keeps going up ,the middle classes get larger and that the Dominicans here seem much happier than those who have left. There are problems here in a country that is going from very poor to developing ..but I know the DR is a much better place than people here portray it .

Leonel Fernandez,
Where is Luis Vargas singing today?
He has a 7 year old child out of wed lock and he is not supporting her emotinally or more importantly financially. This child deserves to be treated better and you have turned your back on her.
Leonel send him back to New York City so that the Family Court can deal with this character.
His inner circle has been advised that he has this child and they have not return calls to mediate this matter. Perhaps he wants to be embarrassed at a concert when he is served with court papers. ALL FOR NON PAYMENT OF CHILD SUPPORT.
