SANTO DOMINGO.- Dominican Republic Health minister Bautista Rojas signed an important agreement with BRA Dominicana (Batey Relief Alliance) on Monday, January 9, continuing a partnership signed in 2000 to provide critical health care and essential medicines to the most impoverished living in the country’s rural batey communities and underserved urban and border areas.
BRA Dominicana executive director Maria Virtudes Berroa, who signed the collaboration document, said without the Government’s continuing support BRA’s success in its humanitarian intervention wouldn’t have been possible.
The Health Ministry assists BRA’s work with healthcare personnel, Customs clearance for medical donations, and as an implementing partner in the organization’s projects to prevent and treat child malnutrition and HIV/AIDS.

they better start getting in to bed eaylier at night and not spend so much time in colmados getting drunk and then not be able get up early to go to work or school in the morning, that is the real reason why so many dominicans are living the way they are living now, because they misused primetime. looking good at the colmadones and liquors stores. and not spending time on what should it been spent on it. so please stop blaming the goverment for evrything. people need to start doing something for themselves and not wait for somebody else to take care of their problems. and that is my point of view on the subject.

bernies you are right too many people just hanging around poverty expecting a bail out of some kind, like if the world owes them the rest of their lives, however there are some of those people who really are due something and they have a right to be expecting it, especially here in the DR where alot of people are used for the service they provide and are discarded like nothing and they don't get no compensation for their hard labor.

Bernies,
I am glad you posted such reality!! 100 % right. That is why so many in DR are so poor, they drink what they earn and what they borough. Then their body is so relaxed they can not work or create one.
The goverment should have a very high tax on alcohol and invest that tax to build health centers for those you abuse alcohol and their family which in few decades will be as broke, poor, and dependent on their family.

You are right, but that is where the Health Ministry and the Health agencies need toi focus and spend the money on to educate about alcohool abuse, redirect the poors to use other typwe of outlets and activities to cope with the depression, not just drinking. Like volunteering to help others, gardening in their back yard or farming wich are proven methods for fighting depression.
The Health Ministry and the Health agencies needs to concentrate on the Dominican issues first, then the rest.
