New York.– Haiti is on the way to recover $6 million assets allegedly plundered by former President Jean-Claude Duvalier and stashed in Switzerland thanks to an initiative backed by the United Nations.

This a joint effort by the governments of Haiti and Switzerland, supported by the World Bank and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime's (UNODC) Stolen Recovery Asset Initiative.

The Swiss Federal Office of Justice's ruling on the Duvalier assets was issued after the account holders failed to prove to the court that the funds were legitimately acquired. Account holders still have 30 days to appeal the decision.

That flood picture has nothing to do with the article. DT should have obtain a picture of Jean-Claude Duvalier or a picture of the Switzerland's Bank where Duvalier stashed the money. Get ready for the Haitian bashing on DT.

Thanks God the money will not be transferred from the hands of one ladron to the hands of another ladron
Those who had already picked upand priced their houses in Florida , France, And the Dominican Republic will have to cancel the deals
The money will not fall in the hands of the usual culprits.
Proud tobehaitian there have never been any Haitians bashing in this forum.
Let's get it straight!
Dominicans simply and forcefully state that they can not feed , shelter , give jobs to Haitians.
They only fire back when you guys start pumping your chests start posting ignorant remarks and start displaying your vain patriotism.
If you would just shut the hell up , get up and leave their country ,they would not have any quarrell with you.
Leave the Dominicans alone and see if they would post any comments concerning Haitians

etiennc, if you read my posts you will see that my views and goals are to have all Haitians return to Haiti. Reinstate the Haitian Army and build a wall on the Haitian border. All those Haitians in DR could be put to work in Haiti and help rebuild Haiti. Haiti used to be a great Nation. Haiti will be a great Nation again with the reinstatement of the Haitian army, job creation, education and tourism. With that said Haitians will no longer be divided. Haitians will not stand on the sideline and watch any Haitian being abuse and humiliated in any country.

Aristide had the balls to disband the Haitian army of thugs and the Tonton Macoutes. Aristide's non-profit organization should manage the $6 million.

Guys,
Just use your common sense. Don't you think if Ariste had stolen money and all the other crappy accusation. Don't you think during the time the Bush administration was in power they would have found something. For the grace of God, please use your brain and your imagination. The priest is pure, clean and honest. PERIOD.

I agree that all Haitians should return to Haiti (including Cedras, Baby Doc, Aristide, etc...), but reinstating the Haitian army, maybe in 20 years or never.

Cruzz666, why 20 years? A nation with no army is not a nation. Haiti needs to create jobs and a safe environment. reinstating the army will do both. The new Army will be train by the U.S.A, the greatest nation on earth.

JRRubirosa,
You claim that Haitians have proceeded with a pacific invasion of DR. But you don't mention that DR has always been sympathetic to Haitians willing to create turmoil in Haiti. In the last coup against President Aristide, the drug dealers and thugs were trained in DR. I just don't understand why these same Dominicans that are meddling in Haitian affairs are the same ones babbling and complaining like crybabies when Haitians immigrants find it necessary to encroach on DR territory. When Haiti is stable it's good for both countries. STOP BABBLING! STOP ENCOURAGING CHAOS IN HAITI! If you do, be ready to pay a price and be ready to share in the consequences.

Love the way all of you are trying to re-write History with your rhetoric and innuendos about past and present events in both the DR and Haiti.
Don't any of you read anything besides preconceived rhetoric printed in newspapers???
Do a little research by authors of a neutral, fact reporting stance for a change instead of by rabble-rousing malcontents like yourselves. You're all begining to sound like Beliel.

You do not do the walk and the walk of a real businessman.
I hope you will try to avoid Haitians during your business tours in Canada.
You will not miss them , they are all over in all corridors of life there.
i do not think you can do busyness with a group of people you openly despise and have been calling for the complete extermination
Keep us posted ot the outcome..
