Zoom Picture

Port-au-Prince.– Wyclef Jean, the former Fugees star, has fixed plans for the facility and will call on celebrity pals like Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie to help him raise funds for the school.

According to HollyScoop.com, Wyclef  said he wants "to start working on building a school. It's going to be called the Yele Center. Hopefully I can start the fundraiser in six months, and I have the model."

"I want something that's sustainable for kids. One person got me out of Haiti, my parents got me to America. I took the dream back to Haiti. If I could just save one kid with that school, and get the next Wyclef Jean or the next Shakira (his partner on hit single Hips Don't Lie), I'll be satisfied," he concludes.

PROUDTOBEHAITIAN, excuse me if I am a little rough but you are proud to be Haitian, so what? A lot of you (and I mean a lot) are proud to be Haitians and really love your country but do you know where your country is going even with all that proud and love? You need more than proud and love, you need to do something about your future (and nobody else is going to take care of that future).

JRRubirosa, Haitians already have “websites their ideas” and some of them are very good but for some very strange reason they prefer our websites. They are welcome, of course, but the problem is the attitude some of them bring here with them.

People, I don't know how come you just don't get it??? Haitians Or Dominicans = Brothers & Sisters! We are not just neighbours, we are so half Dominican & half Haitian, that it really doesn't matter. It makes me very upset to see all this bickering! Acting like you are 5 years old! NO, this is my corner! You go over there! Como'n people grow up, and realize that we share one island together and whether you like it or not, we are Dominican/Haitians & Haitian/Dominican.... And we need to put our differences aside and work together for the better of our countries, and for the better of our Island. Now, don't be dissing Wyclef! He's done and is doing a lot for his country! More than we can say for some of our biggest money making celebrities. You all need to read a little , do a little research before you go crazy. Think of what you like to say, before you open your mouth and offend others. All Races Are Welcome Here! We are better than that....

And FYI Wyclef and I and the rest of our organization (Yele) are doing much to help the poor Haitians. So don't attack me because I'm proud to be Haitian. We are financially and mentally changing Haiti. Stop Hating us because we are proud to be Haitian and doing something to change Haiti. It's not a matter of violating DR space, if your goverment claims that its official population is 9.5 million inhabitants and claim that out of which 2 million are Haitians or Haitian-Dominicans, then why DR govenment uses this statistic only when it's convenient to get international loans and grants

Let me explain my statement regarding the Dominican government not being involved in influencing
Haitian politics.
I partially agree with Lautaro that we should be more proactive in what happens in Haiti for many reasons. A big one is that whatever happens there politically, affects us economically, simple as that.
That is why the USA have military bases all over the world, so they can exert influence and even military might if the case need be.
There is nothing wrong with the DR exerting influence on events that will benefit us in other countries. That is what proactive diplomacy is all about.
I knew that the comment was going to generate some impromptu opinions, and I should have made it clearer. But in a way you are also right, we are not at fault for Haiti's disgrace and the irresponsibility of their rulers, past and present.

Ok thank you for the clarification.
Now about Patrick Gaspard, is he also a Aristide supporter?
And BTW the constitution of the US prohibits anyone not born in US territories to be president.
This is why Arnold Schwarzenegger can not ever aspire to be president unless the US constitution is amended.
Obama was born in Hawaii which is a US state so he qualified, even though some pundits affirm that he was born outside the US and his father lied.

generoso,
The 14th amendment won't allow Patrick Gaspard to become president, although there has been conflicting reports on his birth place. Based on a conversation I had with him over the phone, he confirms that he was born in Haiti. He is very fluent in French and Haitian creole. Patrick Gaspard is against the coup that was orchestrated by Bush, the remnants of the Tonton Macoutes and the Haitian elite. Patrick likes president Aristide very much.

AntonioJ, I did not debate Pichardo but based on our messeges you can figure out two different approaches regarding Haiti, you might not like any of them:
1. Pichardo believes that Haiti is failed state and needs to be integrated to DR. He believes that Dominican are better at governance and Haitians can provide a larger market and more labor. He proposes the end of Haiti with its subsequent integration to DR.
2. I don't care about Haiti. I want Haitians and Dominican to remain isolated and maintain their own exclusive identity. I want DR tobe more christianized, more westernized and more economically progressive. I believe that Haiti has a right to exists with not foreign intervation. Haiti should be for Haitians, DR only for Dominicans. I also want immediate mass deportation.

International loans are not based on population. DR does not qualify for many grants, like Haiti, due to some basic level of development.

Thanks for shedding the light on etiennc (probably the most confused human being on earth).

As far as Aristide, he is one of the greatest leaders of all time. Even the most powerful country in the world is afraid of him and his powerful ideas. Don't you see how Bush father and son could not handle him? They had to overthrow him twice.

I had seen zombies "live" in my life. It's not a joke. It's real. I was born and have come across powerful and mysterious forces in this life and I have great respect for them all and I respect not just voodoo, but all other religions that exist on this planet. I am catholic/Voodouizan. That's a powerful combination. Voodoo is not supposed to be used to harm your fellow human being unless it's in a case of self-defense or legitimate defense just in the case of Bookman who used it to launch the Haitian Revolution in 1791 to kick the barbaric French masters and the Napoleonic troops out of the island.

You sound just like your previous handle Haitian1804, but I guess all you Haitians look alike.LOL.
The "barbaric" French were just outnumbered by 500,000 Haitian slaves that overpowered them. It was a question of sheer numbers, that was all. The French had outstretched themselves bringing so many slaves to the island and not having enough security to keep them at bay.
So how do you explain and justify the Haitian submission when the French later sent the 14 French warships to PAP harbor to demand reparations from the Haitians for the nationalization of sugar mills of the colonist and the brave Haitian liberators did not even put up a token fight and signed the agreements that sent to France 150 million Francs plus interest in over 80 years time. This huge ransom and blackmail moneys put a burden on the Haitian economy and people of
Haiti and curtailed their growth for generations.

Generoso,
On the historic scale, the Haitians have broken the scale. Haiti is the only country in the world that was created by a successful slaves revolt. Try to understand us. This is profound. This is deep, man. As I am typing this, I can feel the spirit of Toussaint Louverture guiding my hands and dictating me. The African blood is boiling in me. The sound of the drums is beating in my head.

To answer your question, The Haitians paid the French from the money and gold that they seized from the French. The Haitians didn't discover the island. They just took it by force. They gave the Spanish, the French and the British the taste of their own medicine. These Europeans were pirates, thieves, kidnappers and murderers (just like Christopher Columbus who was also a mass murderer) who came to the island and decimate the aborigenes. They were outsmarted by the Haitians. As a result, the Haitians have extended Africa to America.

We all would...Like Benjamin says in The Patriot, Why should I trade a tyrant 3000 miles away for 3000 tyrants 1 mile away? Get over the racial issue, people exploit people not because of color, we exploit each other because there's money to be made....Free up you mind from the slave mentality. Grow up...

Cruz666, you love to falsify history...Let me see, Haiti did not exist before 1800s. Right or Wrong? So what you have in 1779 is the French assiting the Americans in Ga. Therefore, it would be more appropiate to talk about the black servants under the French flag. Wouldn't that be more logical? But you choose to make up things to justify a glory that was not there. Granted, some of them will participate in events that would lead to the Haitian revolution. But there was not Haiti, they were not Haitians and their were basically servants of the French.

And you can send the bill of the Haitian patriots fighting in the US revolution to Obama with a correct return address of course. But wasn't the Haitian revolution in 1791 and the American ended in 1776?,
so technically they were French soldiers citizens of "ultramer" not free Haitians doing the fighting.
The French are specialists in sending others to do their fighting for them, since they are so busy drinking fine wines and eating cheeses.
Put the same return address as the other petition asking the French to repay the ransom moneys paid to them. Another Aristide crazy project. The French will not even send a baguette back to Haiti as reparations.

generoso,
Why do you think Obama wants to see more Haitian immigrants in the U.S.? Why do you think Obama named Haitian-American Patrick Gaspard as the White House Political Director? Why do you think President Clinton went to Haiti to thank the Haitians for saving the U.S. Revolution? Why do you think recently the Mayor of Savannah, Georgia has recently erected a monument there to honor the Haitian heroes who fought side by side with George Washington to defeat the British there in 1779. Haitians own a piece of the U.S.

Haiti = Bravery, Dignity, Selflessness. It's beautiful to die for the flag and the nation.

Proof:
http://www.haitianhistory.org/

The question now is once the island was divided in two, there is a spill over on both sides, therefore, the inhabitants on the borders should have been named Haiti-nican. That zone should have been a free zone where both nations should be responsible for the social needs of the folks in the area.

That is fantastic that Haitians are so wanted by the USA!
So do all Dominicans a favor and take all your compatriots temporarily residing as our guests
in the Dominican Republic and ask the US to import them ALL to the US! Please? Please, please.
We Dominicans will even pay for their return ticket home, no problema.
We really have too many Dominican geniuses and we don't need any more Haitian ones, or
the brave warriors descendants that fought in the US revolution over 200 years ago.
Do me a favor, go out in the streets wherever you live at, and buy a newspaper. Now look at the date of that newspaper, it says February 09, 2009 . Wow! You know what? We are not in the 19 TH century anymore!
PS I am writing from the zone you call Haiti-nican, boss. Thank you. I was mistaken and I thought we were dubbed "Saint Domingue West"

etiennc,
You are Haitian? Dominican or Haiti-nican?

It doesn't matter who builds the school. As long as it's a good deed. That's what matters.

Wiclef Jean has brought the most famous celebrities in Haiti (Angelina Jolie, Wyclef Jean, Brad Pitt, Supermodel Petra Nemcova, etc...).

I met the greatest leaders of my time, I have lobbied politicians, I traveled around the world to do humanitarian works. I think you should get involved in something significant and valuable.

Give your existence a purpose. By the way I am thinking about going to Haiti for the carnival. Maybe we will meet there. Maybe we can have a share "prestige beer" together. whether you're Haitian, Domincans or both, carnival time in Haiti is a time when all classes of the Haitian society and people get together to rejoice. I am traveling with my Japanese girl friend Yukari.

It's ok, we can deal with our own suffering and we will miss our Haitian brothers in more ways than one. Do we make reservations for a party of how many did you say? To leave in the next boat?
We would need an aircraft carrier to take the 1.5 million or more to the US, maybe you can ask Uncle Sammy to lend you one.
Don't worry we won't be sorry, if Dominicans are too lazy to the the job Haitians do then we will manage somehow. But thanks for your concern.
BTW when the "gates are opened" maybe you could help send could send another million more Dominicans that need jobs as well to the good old USA, to make some yankee dollars.

The imported ones are favorite of the viewers. This info might be dated as I have never watch one and normally only put the news for 15 minutes a day on TV. I have to feed my habit of DT postings

Here is a Haitian joke:
Monsieur Pie was caught stealing a yuca from a farmer by the local police and arrested.
They took the Haitian to court but the yuca had disappeared and was nowhere to be found,
the judge asked Monsieur Pie:
Q: Did you steal the yuca from this farmer?
A: No bossman, no steal yuca.
Q: But many witnesses saw you stealing the yuca!
A: No bossa man, Pie no steal yuca.
And they went on and on with this for a long time and the judge could not get Monsieur Pie to admit to his crime. Finally the judge had a bright idea to end this and told the Haitian:
A: OK you did not steal it, but was it delicious "bon" or not?
A: Ok Yes boss man it was tres bon, taba buene!

The story was real. The gang was looking for cockfights birds. Cockfighting is still done in DR. This is something that we need to eliminate as soon as we take control of the government. Cocks should be exposed to violence only for soup purposes. I am a great defender of animals. I even defended Moreno, the wannabe Dominican, from the Haitian Xchange. Animals have a special place in my heart; therefore I think of the stealing more as kidnappings. The headline should read:
22 Cocks kidnapped by a new Haitian gang

I am not kidding I just heard it in the Piedra Blanca's local news report (PB is located midway between Sto Dg. and Santiago).

I want total separation now!!!! No romance, no novela...We can import that rubbish from Mexico...Their novelas are full of beautiful women, and every now and then they even employ Dominicans. Another thing, the mixing between Dominican and Mexicans in NY is a phenomena that needs to be studied, fast and growing faster. Very interesting.
Let me remember the author of "Y" --one of Mexico's greatest boleros- was Dominican.
Andres Garcia- The Mexican macho prototype- is not Mexican, but Dominican, born and raised. Among other famous Dominicans.
Why do Mexicans include Dominicans in their popular culture? I don't know. But that would not happen in Haiti Cherie where they want to use us, but never respect us....Peace, Patria o Muerte.

The bad guys will be the Haitians of course unless you want to market the rights in Haiti. LOL.
We can enlist some of the cartoon characters at DT like haitian1804, whysmithy, Dominicanation and others, to play the bad guy role. They will for sure generate instead of comments a lot of viewers.
Talk show would not make it unless you disarm participants and audience at the door first. You will have to install a search like at the US airport security and then it will still be like the show "Jerry Springer" and have people beating up on each other.

I am getting a sense of racial discrimination from you, since the Mexican actresses in the novelas are white only. You don't think a black woman can be beautiful?

Do you intend to do this peacefully or what?
Written by: Bonahan48, 9 Feb 2009 7:46 PM

Generoso, I said "all means on the table." But first peacefully.
Now, I think you are the one who thinks racially. I said that women in Mexican novelas are beautiful. Do you disagree with that? Even a friend from Moscow thinks so. So, I did not bring the racial card, not was it implied. Get over that, free your mind of the slave mentality. Do you have certain preferences? Probably some of us do. I like my women light skin, very light or white. Just a preference. I am sure there must be beautiful black women. The other day I went to a White party, I was one of a few Latinos there, and I could tell, boy, all of them were ugly. The same happened to me in a black party a couple of years ago. Damn it! Human are generally ugly. Scarcity makes beautiful women special. In DR there are a lot of beauties and I think it has to do with the fact that Europe and Africa collided to create just the right combination...One of the most beautiful people in the world are the Ethiopians. Do U agree?

AntonioJ,
Yes. They do. There are a few Dominican music bands in the DF, Mexico. Mexicans will continue to like us as long as we are small in numbers. If you make the imprudent move of sending too many of us, they going to start hating us, and they would be right in doing so...
In Haiti there's only a few Dominicans and the hate us with passion. No a single Dominican can be found in Haitian popular culture. No even one. Do you guys see what I'm telling you? Do you get it?

We have Felix Cumbe, but he's Dominican equivalent in Haiti does not exist.

No, I don't agree. I only knew one Ethiopian and she was a mess.
I used to go to Mexico a lot for business and pleasure but didn't like the Mexican women. The ones I ran into and most what I saw were all fat, ugly and disproportionate. It is all that ugly Indian blood line. No offense intended please. Just my predilections.
I think Dominican women are the best, they are nice, sweet and kind and brave at the same time. They are hard working and love to rump and have a good time. They can be sweet and docile and please their man like Japanese women. But they are insanely jealous like Thai girls.

You are using a racial typology to identify Mexican women. Mexicans come in all colors. I see also a dislike for Ethiopians and I suggest that you do a little research, there's beauty there. Even among Native American Mexicans I've seen hot looking ones. Of course, beauty is rather a scarce comodity, no matter the "race" or ethnic group. But I've never seen beautiful Haitians women-maybe one o two--, but of course I don't interact with Haitians. My patriotic choice.

Where they partly filmed "The Comedians" with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor about the Duvalier dictatorship.

As the Haitians have been dumped on Dominican soil , this has streesed the Dominican s emotionally and financially. We had engaged in debates, dialoques, and discussions seeking human solutions.Lately the forum has been hatianized where Haitian comedians can post propagandas to divert our attention to serious issues at hand such how to stop the flow of illega migration before Dominicans take matters into their own hands.
Who gives a flying sh _t about Garcelle Beauvais and Claudinette Fouchard whose last name indicates a rare inbreeding.

etiennc,
You don't know anything about me. You are just running your mouth. I have dated women of all races (Asian, Europeans, Blacks, Whites, Latinas/Hispanics). I have traveled around the world. I have seen this world and I know this world. I have visited Dominican Republic about ten times. I never hide the fact that I love Dominican women and there is a wide range of beautiful women in Dominican Republic. A variety that you can see also and mostly in Brazil. whether you like it or not, the mix of Haitian/African, Taino/Indian, Spanish, French and English blood, makes Dominican Republic a paradise for men in search of diverse and exotic beauties. I have to give credit where credit is due.

Below is Haitian Superstar Wyclef Jean's wife. She is a very beautiful woman and a top fashion designer.

This is not a beauty contest.
This is not about dumb rap singer holding a copy of a flag as a publicity gimmick for his next CD (Hips don't lie -Remix)(The original flag has been sold to a private collector ).
we are concerned about more serious matter ,how to stop as humanly as possible the flow of Haitians crossing illegaly the Haitian Dominican border.
Discuss some substantive issues, this is not Rap Today or Haute Couture Today.

Hey bro don't be so serious and hard on Cruz. He is just injecting a little fun in the thread.
We men all love beautiful women.
Laughter is ok and makes us all closer as human beings.
Relax a bit and enjoy, the world's problems will still be there when we return or decide to tackle them again.
Stay off the Brugal, it makes you jumpy. I like Barbancourt much better.
I remember a time far away from PAP I got a flat tire in a rented car and couldn't find the tools to change it. I was with a British news photographer friend who was stone drunk and could barely walk so he could not help me change the tire. Some Haitians came and they offered to help, after they finished they asked us for $50 dollars. We said it was way too much and we were not going to pay that and I gave them $10 dollars. Well it got hairy and they started to get violent. Suddenly my friend pulled his pants down and mooned them, they were then laughing so hard I got both of us in the car and sped away.

Roso, cross666 is just a cross between Haitian1804 and Dominicanation. I hope his is sterile and will not make any cross666 junior. One is enough A cross between a horse and a jackass produces a mule thai is sterile.
I understand that the image of Haiti has been so bruised that cross 666 wishes who suffering from self aggrandization finally got a forum where he can seek respect for Haiti a repair years of ravages of bad press.
The problem he is looking for respect by posting irrational and mythomanic posts.
Mythomanic:A soi-disant player.
He looks for respect by romanticing the past,Who the heck was Claudinette Fouchard ?

He could have easily get more respect if he was to point out that William Florville was the Haitian barber for Lincoln, his friend for 24 years.Florville was a pallbearer at Lincoln's funeral Florville was was a philantropic,He also helped convincing Lincoln to accept a Haitian Minister in 1860(Ambassador now)

Remember I tested haitian1804 with a simple question he was bragging about being a sniper and he lied through his teeth and was then ridiculed publicly.
That happened to Dominicanation and he hasn't been seen or heard lately either.

Not Dominican...not Haitian...not of either ansestorial background.
It is sheer ignorance and fear that divide and that is obvious here. To me...all are Hispanolians...most are very hospitible and accomodating....more so in the countryside than in the big cities.

Oddly enough...just last week...Mr Guerra made a statement about improving education in the DR...and he was viewed by most as a role model of good faith. Now Mr. Jean actully starts a fund to support an educational facility and he is considered an opportunist. Odd....one simply wants the government to improve education....putting no personal effort into it....hero....one actually puts a financial effort into it...and because he is Haitian....he is only in it for his self interest.

PuntacanaMike, I beg to differ. Do you mind if I call you RACIST?

This is what I mean. You see us as Hispaniolans (havest of empire) but there's no such a thing. But when you look at us all you see is "people of color." Why do these Blacks try to differentiate Haitian and Dominican? They are the same Sh--" This type of mentality had its greatest expression in the 1848 Conference when Europeans divided and took Africa for their own benefits, ignoring the differences among the people who lived there. This led to war, crimes and genocide among people who were not brothers and sisters, but simply humans. They did what any other group would have done under the circumstances created by foreigners: attack and kill each other. See Hotel Rwanda.

In the island there is DR and there's Haiti, two different countries with tremendous linguistics and cultural differences. IT WOULD TAKE A RACIST TO SEE US AS EQUAL, AS THE SAME. NO, SIR, WE ARE NOT HISPANIOLANS... Patria o Muerte,

A DEEP REFLEXION:

Looking from outside in, you see the island of Hispaniola. You see an island whose inhabitants used to live peacefully (Indian/Tainos). You see human greed decimating a peaceful culture. You see a mass murderer by the name of Christopher Columbus. You see barbaric Spanish, English and French pirates. You see greed extended to the point of kidnapping Africans then enslaved them, then subjected the enslaved Africans the worst imaginable brutality, barbarism and atrocity. Then you see the brave, intrepid and incredible Haitians who rejected colonialism, racism and slavery and rose up to defeat the most powerful armies in the world (Spain, England and Napoleon/France).

Wyclef brother, I see you holding strongly and waving proudly the Haitian flag. The flag that liberated so many other countries including the United States. I know the feeling and the pride that, we, Haitians live with every second, every minute and every day.

tonyj ..Canadian Judge gives 7 year old right to decide his own custody.
A 7 year old boy was at the center of a courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy had a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he refused to live with her. When the judge suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the family and learning that violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Toronto Maple Leafs whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone

Other Good stories about Haitians and Dominicans. What I realize is Dominicans living outside of Dominican Republic have evolved to become well informed citizens. By the same token, we dominicans living in the DR consider a large chunk of them (with only a few exceptions, like general roso, ladronaso, ciby, popon, USADR, DominicanChic and guillermone, among others) to be narrow-minded, one droppist turncoats that have sold out their country and their compatriots' chance to be free on the only part of this earth they'll be able to call their own just for a few coins like the biblical Judas. That's why the're easy prey for the racist talk and BS of irresponsible and hypocrite people like yourself, "the voice of stupidity", whose only purpose in life is to make other people accountable for your OWN mistakes. It's easy to preach "unity" and other like minded BS when you'll not be the one to pay the bill for those mistakes. (cont.)

(cont...) So I'm sorry if our mighty contempt for your ideas irritates you, but we, the dominicans from the island, are mightily tired of the myriad attempts made by foreigners to make of us their willing, useful idiots (yes, even yours, I wonder when will you realize that for us you will ALWAYS be foreigners, no matter how shocking it might result to your simplistic, "one-drop rule" mentality), so no thanks, we absolutely and mightily refuse to be your useful idiots on your scheme, specially when this BS scheme meditates making us a party in our own destruction as a sovereign national enctity. I can only paraphrase Einstein when he says that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, cuz' that's exactly what you're asking us islanders to do. The japanese and the diaspora might commit seppuku and hara-kiri to please you on a daily basis, but we dominicans will certainly NOT commit that just to satisfy your politically correct sensitivities.

You can't ask from others what you're incapable of doing yourself, cuz' it has always been my view that one can only preach by the force of one's own example.

I copy, general. Speaking of my case, I have made it my personal crusade to fight a take-no-prisoners-all-out war against the "one drop rule", educating our people in the basics of it and how it can be countered, in the sense that so many of our people, when setting their feet on foreign lands (specifically the US) for the first time, find themselves totally unprepared to face that ideological monstruosity, one that is being used so effectively to erode our very national values and being, so the next time they meet foreigners wanting to denigrate and one-drop their nationality they find themselves prepared to take the attack and shove it through those foreigners' arses, very literally. If you have been checking the forums, you'll find that yours truly, yumnuk and our resident Taino and American Natives' expert, Baracutei, have been waging it by educating our people about the importance of rescuing our neglected Taino roots.

That's precisely the danger, general. Given the lack of a sound education by the majorities of our population, they get seduced by all that bling-bling of the expats without realizing that what lies underneath is even more insidious than the brutal and raw reality of their everyday lives on the country. It took my committing economic "heresy", in the sense of deviating from my official economic theory syllabus (Keynes, Friedman) and getting to read some neo-marxist books about the propaganda of the capitalist mass media (specially the ones by Ignacio Ramonet) to realize the real ideological dangers that our masses are really facing. Sorry GC, but sometimes the "grassy knoll school of thought" can really get it right when explaining the realities of our societies, even if their economic system is a dismal failure when dealing with matters of efficiency.

Dear Lautaro,
I have nothing to do with the decimation of the Tainos. Go unearth sadistic and barbaric Christopher Columbus and ask him why did he exterminate such a pacific people and their culture.

The point that I am trying to make is reflective of other countries not just DR. Dominicans living outside of DR have a 21st century mind, while, in my opinion, Dominicans who have never had a chance to evolve outside of DR's bubble have a 20th century mentality.

What are you trying to tell me? Dominicans living outside of DR are not patriotic? On the contrary, I have seen Dominican pride on display on a grand scale in Dominican communities in the U.S. I have seen Dominicans proudly waving their flags at Dominican Day parade here. I have seen Dominican proudly display signs of Dominican Restaurants, etc.. In addition to being more open minded, Dominicans living outside of DR still retain their identity and they continue to take pride in their culture.

And the point that I'm trying to make, Smitty, is that a 21st century mind IS NOT represented by the slavish acceptance of the "one-drop rule". If something, that represents 19th century mentality at its worst. Just read this essay, that way, you will know about the real, insidious meaning of the ideas that you're so slavishly parroting about:

Those Dominicans are very patriotic as well. But in the end you will have to deal with guys like us to place your arguments, not them.
We are carrying the banner because we live in DR full time, and you are placing your arguments with us, not with them.
We have also read the Dominican-Haitian history carefully and can not be manipulated so easy,
by you dubious and dogmatic arguments.
Dominicans in the diaspora although as patriotic as anyone maybe are not as current or close to the problem as we are, that reside in the DR full time and can see with our own eyes the dangers of free and uncontrolled immigration or "friendly invasion" as you picture it.
And one more thing you changed your stupid slogan at the end of your rabbles, but instead you put another self serving commentary. What a nut case you are you "rational mind".
Have you considered taking the 666 out of your handle? Or are you proud to represent the dark forces in more than one way?

And I might add, general, that we are not so easily fooled by any race card or "solidarity among the black people", "down with the europeans", black pantherish BS discourse. We certainly know better than indulging in stupid race discourses when there are so many of our own people suffering on our own country the same wants that those haitian inmigrants face, so, Smitty, you have to understand that we must help those compatriots FIRST before helping anyone else. Also, unlike americans, we don't suffer foolish supremacists of whatever kind to be meddling around on our affairs gladly.

Aristide to be back in Haiti soon. Mark my words. Aristide had the ball to disolve the Haitian army of thugs, murderers and drug dealers.

In creole they say: "Pa Manyen Titid", English: "Don't touch Aristide", in French: "Ne touchez pas Aristide"

Whenever anyone messes with Aristide, he or she always ends up paying the consequence. Just take a look at what George W. Bush is going through right now. Bush is being probed.

Wyclef Jean is doing a good job in Haiti.

Lautaro,
I read the essay. Outside of Africa, Haitian people represent the entire continent of Africa. Haitians collaborate with Black struggle around the world and particularly here in the U.S. It's not a coincidence that President Obama has chosen Haitian-American Patrick Gaspard as White House Political Director.

February is Black History Month. Haiti is seen as the beacon of freedom. VIVA HAITI. VIVA AFRICA. African-Americans are climbing up the political ladder at such an incredible speed. African-Americans have always had such an admiration for Haitians and their history, as a result, as African-Americans rise in the U.S. so do the Haitians. I can see a bright future for Haitian-Americans, Haitians and Haiti in the horizon.

Abraham Lincoln sent African-American Frederick Douglas to Haiti as the first U.S. ambassador to Haiti, Douglas said: "The freedom that has come to the colored race is largely due to the brave stand taken by the sons of Haiti".

Yes I read that after 20 years in court the Swiss are finally going to release the money that was confiscated from Baby Doc Duvalier and give it to the Haitian government.
The moneys should be distributed as compensation to deserving widows and orphans of the
Duvalier regime in an even basis. That would be transparent because if the money is used to build a
monument or some other public work or infrastructure it will vanish in the pockets of the corrupt.
Jean Claude Duvalier was counting on that money since Michelle Bennet took everything else from him and kicked him out. I hear he is despondent and working odd jobs in France.

The Dominican government tried to go after Ramfis Trujillo's millions in a Swiss bank (The report said around $60 million dollars) around 1963-64 or so but gave up quickly. The Haitians I guess were more persistent, but this judgement creates a precedent and maybe the Dominican government can still try to get some of that money back from Ramfis widow plus the many businesses he left standing in Spain.

The money that Swiss bank will disburse to Haiti is an other example why Pres. Aristide went back to Haiti the first time. Haitians and Haitian-Americans in the diaspora are working as hard as the first time to send Aristide back to Haiti a second time; therefore, persistence is correct.

Aristide grew feathers and begged the US to protect him since he didn't even trust his "blanc" macoute mercenaries of the Steele organization.
He signed his resignation letter and cried and begged for US
protection. The army's most secret and elite squad, so secret it does not have a name and is referred to as the "Intelligence Support Activity — aka the "Activity" was sent to protect Aristide from some of his own bodyguards that were suspected of selling out to the opposition.
The US should have left ungrateful Aristide to be fried in the palace by
Guy Philipe's armies that were closing in.
Instead they let ungrateful Aristide to woo them into taking him out of the country "to prevent bloodshed" as he stated in his cowardly letter.

I'm sure that, if you were living on Santo Domingo, you'd be singing another tune altogether, cuz' if you haven't realized it yet, this back and forth have an underlying cause that goes way beyond the racist label that misinformed people like you likes to assign it, and that cause goes by the name of ECONOMICS, son. The DR is not a wealthy country, so it sorts of goes without saying that it has to attend to the needs of its native poor citizens FIRST before attending the politically correct sensitivities of people like you by feeding the rejects from another society. You're so wrapped up in the comforts of american society that you are failing to realize how the poor citizens of your parents' country are being displaced by the private and government engineers and agrarians consortiums with their use of the cheap labour afforded by the haitian inmigrants (cont...)

It goes without saying that we are running the risk of ending up like the jewish people before 1948, that is, of becoming a stateless community, going from country to country living in secluded ghettos being scorned and persecuted by the populace of those hosts countries, cuz' by then we will be crying like women what we didn't have the guts to defend as men, that is, the land that our forefathers gave us, the only place on this earth where we're not foreigners.
