Santo Domingo.- The National District City Council prepares a large strip of land in the impoverished sector La Cienega, where it has removed more than 100 tons of trash, to plant hundreds of trees and turn it into a properly lit recreational area including park benches and a playground, as part of the Ozama and Isabela rivers’ recovery and cleanup.

Great news!!!! Poverty should not be at first sight, especially not if you are on the bridges or on a boat in the river. The view towards the city should be a beautiful and prosperous one, on the riverbanks. Put dykes around it so it will be safe for housing and developing projects. Those river banks could become the 2010's hot spots of Santo Domingo. All metropolitan cities make good use of their river banks and include them into the down-town lifestyle. London, Paris, Prague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam etc. I hope that Santo Domingo is capable of facelifting those horrible parts of the city which have so much potential.
