I certainly am all for helping out other countries , but isnt it amazing how Uncle Sam cries poor mouth TO HIS PEOPLE while he stands in the bread line and yet mysteriously has seemingly unlimited resources in his top hat when it comes to showering blessings upon these other nations ? BELLY , COME OUT COME OUT WHERE EVER YOU ARE ! They need you to help them cut down a few more trees !

I wonder why a country as prosperous as DR (read the news, everything is great and on the up and up) would need an assistance like this in the first place? Could it be the GOV published numbers are a lie?

danny,
I love USA but don't talk bad about Dominicana! It has the natural beauty that many countries don't have. DR has helped Haiti by providing work in DR. I love both contries both have pros and cons. I don't even think that you are Dominican...

danny, beside going around the world trying to push their policies. remember the usa have done plenty of good no doubt. let see overthrowing any nations that do not agree with their policies or rules, attacking defenseless nations all over the world. what else remember the Americas institute what did they do, trained Latin America militia so they learn to overthrow their countries democracies and commit barbaric act to their people so they can push USA agenda. I said that is one good thing they have done. they have done plenty of good, but look what happen in the last four years is an example of some of the bad things they have done throughout their destiny.

Belly,

"Uncle Sam now is like the drunk guy .... you remember this country Luxembourg because thats the next destination for immigrants."

Where do you get this information on Luxembourg from? I have an office in Bascharage, Luxembourg, and I travel there about every twelve weeks. I stay in Luxembourg City at the Intercontinental Hotel, near the Centre Europeen, or the European seat of govt. While I see some immigrants near the central train station, mostly eastern Europeans, I really do not see any signs of an immigrants wave.

Luxembourg is one of the richest countries in the world. Very expensive and orderly. In fact, many of the engineers at our research center cannot afford to live in Luxembourg and commute from either France, Belgium or Germany. I simply don't see how the principality of Luxembourg will suddenly be overrun by immigrants, especially poor ones.

The US is also a very beautiful and vast country. anybody who does not believe that I would invite to come visit the Finger Lakes region of NY. I've been privileged to have traveled extensively and often throughout the world, and always glad to return to this beautiful area. We likely have a larger shoreline than DR, and some of the most beautiful fresh water beaches anywhere on earth. One of the smallest Finger Lakes, "Skeneateles", is crystal clear and, I believe, second cleanest in civilized world.

BTW, please check the world's ranking for most beautiful beaches and see how there are more in US than in DR-I believe.

I would just like to say that 99% of the things belly or belly51 says is about as accurate as Leonel's economic predictions.

Since you know so much would you care to name a DR president from all of them that has done a better job than Leonel. I won't say he is god but better than anything we had before yes. By the way in the forum i started a thread thats tittle "whats your solution for Dominican republic" and i'm still waiting for your comments there since your have a lots of arguments but haven't seen your solutions.

Belly . Even A drunken stew bum in the park can tie a free load on once in a while .. Im sure endless cases of Presidente light and a few bottles of mama juana are just a small part of the deal ...Also , JUST IN CASE YOU HAVENT NOTICED , Haitian labor is a priceless commodity in the D.R THESE Days .. A group of desperate Haitiano chicken farmers will certainly cut down a Rain forest outside of Port Au Prince for alot less than what Hillary would have to pay Johnny Appleseed ( or the average Dominican ) to Chop IT DOWN and occupy it.

xwill7,Do you think providing work to haitians is helping them? I think Dominicana needs these workers. Its true that your country has a lot better economic situation than mine I wont deny it . But a big portion of your people is poor. All these resorts or big business are for foreigners. SO stop saying that you did something for the world by giving jobs to haitians. Your economy would collapse if tomorrow all these haitians decided to get back home. I love your country but please think about what you say . And if I tell you Haiti has always help DOminicana by contracting a lot of prostitutes there? I don t want to insult anyone . BUT PLEASE !!!. I live in CANADA, studying , and I have a lot of friends l in the US. I know a lot of poor dominican immigrants there who are doing some freaky jobs. It hurts to see what poverty makes someone do for a living.
And don t you dare compare any other country to the USA . They are the gratest . If not, go home. And as I said I respect DR.

I agree with you Paul ..I Lived and worked in the D.r for 2 years while owning my own business there as well ...Nothing personal against Haitians as you cant blame them for wanting to cross the border any more than you can blame some Dream chasing gringo looking to capitalize on a situation that seems more promising than what his own country affords him.. ( I too was an illegal immigrant) along with the Haitians I employed and worked with , but the truth be told ,the Dominican economy can survive without greedy Gringos . However, without the Haitians who are willing and able to do all the jobs that the proud Dominicans wont , an economy already on life support would die in a New York heart beat .

Well Bailarin,
For real , I think people have tu cultivate theirselves more before saying insanity. We have to know a bit about history and also about what capitalism means. Guys, you should also seek what the expresion "NEW WORLD ORDER " means .
About the illegal haitians crossing the border, I can tell you that I cry every time I see how they are trated and considered there in DR .I feel a lot of anger toward my country s so called "political leaders " who came in power after the 90's . Dominicans DO NOT HAVE TO BE CONDEMNED .HAITIANS POLITICAL ELITES ARE THE RESPONSIBLES . But I also think because of Haiti s restrictive laws about foreigners this situation is being manipulated by powerful International financial groups.Investors in DR need haitian "mano de obra" . So they manipulate this imigration . And your government doesn t really make anything about it. I really want this to change trust me . And I have a lot of respect and love for your country . I want mine to change.

Paul,
Yes, I think that the lower cost labor helps Dominicana, but they do need to control who comes in and out of the country. The illegals should have some sort of document. If a crazy person from any country crosses the border and does harm to someone in DR, how would you ever find him or her?

Paul , the Dominican who actually understands and knows thier countrys history understandably gets a bad taste in thier mouth when they have to share thier giftshops and back yards with a people that once occupied and unfairly treated them . If you truly love America and what it stands for , I challenge you to take a ride on your ox cart to a Navajo indian reservation in the middle of the great plains and smoke a pipe or two with the true native Americans and after the buffalos stop flying around , tell us what you think about our great , proud history of imperialistic occupation and slaughter and what really happened at that first Thanksgiving day parade in New England . Yes, THAT WAS THEN AND THIS IS NOW , but when i spent a summer living and working in Deadwood South Dakota as a white bartender serving a bunch of bitter Apaches who treated me as if I were the GEN. Custer who kicked them off thier land , I was able to BETTER UNDERSTAND the Dominican resentment towards Haitians..

xwill17,
My friend I am the first to want this situation to be better ruled. Dominican government has to control the DR borders! As haitians political elite and governement have to provide the country all it needs so that the people can work in their country. I think DR is a good neighbor . You guys can t be taken for responsibles about the bad situation that my country has known for the last two decades.
But I m saying that we have to look for the deep causes of these situations: the Haiti instability( along with the non questionable Haitian responsability) and the illegal haitian immigration in DR. I think things are being manipulated somewhere . This condemnable situation in fact serves big economic interests .
But trust me guys , if I were president of Haiti , I d reinforce the border so that all these hate and disrepect could stop and to protect our dignity . And I would not you to think I have anything against DR. "Para nada" lol

I think that if Haiti replaces the trees that have been cut down and start to promote their tourists spots as super safe resorts, then they can start the progress. The beaches in Haiti have the potential but it will take the effort of the Gov and the people together.
