PRESS RELEASE

SANTO DOMINGO.-  The Embassy  the United States in the country and the U.S. Army today conclude the cooperation plan for needy communities which lasted several months in the northwest municipality Arenoso, Duarte province, as part of the program “Beyond the Horizon,” carried out with the support of  several U.S. states.

U.S. Embassy Press attaché David Searby and U.S. South Army Public Relations officer major Jorge Medina said the Duarte province authorities, residents and diplomats have been invited to the closing activity. “It is a solidarity program among the nations friends of the United States, in this occasion corresponding to a Dominican Republic community, which receives collaboration to solve part of the problems that affect the townspeople.”

The officials, speaking in the morning TV program with Ruddy González, said the farewell for the troops which provided medical aid and built schools in far off villages of Arenoso will take place in San Francisco. “We built two classrooms so that around 50 students who attend the elementary level didn’t have to travel the several kilometers to receive an education, which are resistant to level 4 hurricane winds.”

Medina and Searby said the villagers highly appreciated the solidarity, by joining the soldiers in the work for their benefit every day.
