La Romana, Dominican Republic. – “Health Tourism” is a program to train 15 masseurs and reactivate the cooperation by the Italian city Savona with Saona island’s villagers, including donations of school materials and computers.

Tourism vice minister Luis Simó said the training of the new masseurs creates 15 new jobs

He said the new contribution for Saona’s islanders is part of Tourism’s continued training of human resources in the sector. “Those who are trained in these courses will improve their standard of living, since a masseur makes about 50 Euros daily.”

Simó added that the Tourism Ministry and the Professional Technical Training Institute (Infotep) coordinate the courses.
