They are on street corners, on beaches, working in dominican households and as watchmen. They are hired in many construction sites across the island. I have a lot of compassion for the plight of the Haitian community, however, crossing the border illegally and using limited resouces is not the answer. Hiaiti must get serious, change the worlds view of them and do for their own. However, dominicans are a big part of the problem. The advances made in the DR that have opened up new job markets, have also left minial jobs vacant. Hiatians fill those jobs hence creating the demand. Many dominicans prefer not to work than to fill jobs than they deem beneath them.
