Port-au-Prince.– Haiti, still struggling to recover from a disastrous earthquake 19
months ago, has yet to receive even half of the international donations
pledged, according to a World Bank report published Friday.
At an
international donors conference held in New York in March 2010, 55
donors pledged $4.58 billion in grants in 2010 and 2011 for rebuilding
the country.
But as of June, donors had disbursed $1.74 billion, just 38 per cent of the pledges, the World Bank said.
The Haitian president, Michel Martelly, called on international donors to deliver on their promises.
"The
reconstruction effort needs to be more effective and must be
implemented at a more dynamic pace," Martelly said in the preface of the
World Bank report.

I propose doing away with HAITI as-is, ONCE AND FOR ALL. The population is 10, 11 million? Give every adult a million dollars and a plane ticket, that should be roughly about 50% of the pop. They must take their million dollars and their families to any other country and start anew, they clearly are incapable of managing that side of the island.
Give that side of the island a good 5-10 years of desolation time-as it were, for reforestation and VOILA! The Haiti problem solved with less than 8 million dollars. No more headaches for the US. France, Canada and DR for years to come.

I propose doing away with HAITI as-is, ONCE AND FOR ALL. The population is 10, 11 million? Give every adult a million dollars and a plane ticket, that should be roughly about 50% of the pop. They must take their million dollars and their families to any other country and start anew, they clearly are incapable of managing that side of the island.
Give that side of the island a good 5-10 years of desolation time-as it were, for reforestation and VOILA! The Haiti problem solved with less than 8 million dollars. No more headaches for the US. France, Canada and DR for years to come.
