Basseterre, St Kitts.– The Caribbean Community (Caricom) Special
Representative on Haiti PJ Patterson has urged the Caribbean leaders to
maintain their support for the priorities and processes outlined by
Haiti's new President Michel Martelly.
Patterson, a former Jamaican prime minister, made the request at the just-concluded Caricom summit in St Kitts. A statement issued by the Guyana-based Caricom Secretariat said that he
held "a most productive meeting" with Martelly during the summit.
Patterson, in presenting his report on developments relating to Haiti,
highlighted the successful completion of the Presidential and
Legislative elections which allowed the leaders to welcome Martelly as
the democratically elected president of Haiti.
