Providence, RI.- Ex president Leonel Fernandez said the administrations headed by René Préval, as well as that of Michel Martelly stem from the people’s will, which shows how Haiti, long-plagued by dictators, has taken firm steps to build a democratic process.

The president of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE) and of the country’s ruling PLD party said he was optimistic with Haiti's changes toward democratic development and future perspective.

The ex Head of State spoke on the topic "Democratic Leadership and Challenges of the XXI Century" accompanied by former Chilean President Ricardo Lagos, on the campus of Brown University, in Rhode Island’s capital.

Fernandez fielded a student's question on the battles that Haiti’s people waged for centuries to consolidate their independence and establish a democracy.

As to the impoverished nation’s post-earthquake situation, Fernandez called it a rising Haiti, which shares the island with Dominican Republic.

Note to LF: Please go away.

Note to Dreamkiller: Repeating a lie over and over does not make it true. Josean has never once posted support for Mejia.

The real story is that LF is focusing in the protection of his investments in Haiti, by patronizing and brown nosing Martelly, now that Felix Bautista's contracts are being revoked and cancelled.

Still no mention of the demonstration against Martelly in Haiti on Sunday, and demonstration for his support (by paid supporters) on Monday.

Thasnks Roy, I was putoff a little by Haitiking's informative post about Haiti and the intelligence with which it was written. That is until your humorous comment ( I thought it was funny), pissed him off and the profanity leaked out.

Its haiti4never! AKA comia de perro, err comia de popeye! What's up you profane ole bigot?

Thanks, venganzaderafael,
Hey, I've been insulted by experts!
(HAITIking is not one of them.)
Imagine calling yourself "king"
The delusional grandeur of this guy is spectacular.
He thinks he is insulting me by calling me a Jew. I am not Jewish, but I would take it as a complement. The world population of Jews is about the same as the Haitian population. Between 1901 and 2011, around 850 laureates have been awarded Nobel Prizes. At least 170 have been Jews. Not one has been Haitian. Jews took an almost barren wasteland and created the state of Israel with a GDP per head #26 in the world. Haitians took the richest colony in the western hemisphere and have turned it into an almost barren wasteland with a GDP per head of #167 in the world.
The only field Haiti is a world leader in, is poverty, crime, disease, corruption, superstition and a black hole for world charity.

"To reduce the risk of flooding ,soldiers of the Japanese military engineering company of the Minustah have proceeded to the drainage of channel and built a secondary channel, the work was completed last Friday."

So Haitians can't even dig a ditch on their own?

"As a J&W you should mind your own j& wish affairs
the DR and Haiti should not concern you ."

Were it not for the Jews (invited by Trujillo) then Hispaniola would not have a 20th century dairy industry.

How much were the Japanese paid to dig Haitian dirches, and where did the money come from? How many Haitians went to Japan to help after their earthquake? Too busy looting Port-au-Prince after their own? Interesting that there was no looting after the Japanese earthquake, compared with massive looting in Haiti. Difference between Atheist and Catholic morality I guess.
