The Useless Nations have a massacre in Syria, a gaggle of madmen in Iran/North Korea/Zimbabwe/Sudan/Venezuela etc, starvation and human rights violations in more than half of its members yet Mr Moon is here to the rescue.
Another useless mouthpiece who is grossly overpaid and lives like a king going through the motions of diplomacy.
Please go to Damascus and help those poor people.

Yes these thing need to be fixed...
The main one holding this country back that he didn't talk about "CORRUPTION"
That is the number one thing this country needs the most help with, once it is dealt with things will fall in line, education will get it funding, businesses will get investment, police will do their jobs and officials will take their noises out of the trough and get to work....

Well some of us have a dream... and that is all it will be unless corruption is dealt with... harshly...

The United Nations always "TOO LITTLE TOO LATE".

WARNING! soon the UN will try and dictate the DR 's domestic policy's.

The UN can go BLANK themselves.

Most of you forget that without the UN, no matter how innefective it is, is better than no international body for countries to talk instead of starting wars.
After WWI "the war to end all wars", the disbanding of the "League of Nations" with no other forum to replace it actually facilitated and contributed to the development of Nazism in Germany. The UN was a re-birth of this old international forum after WWII. Their role was pivotal during the Cold War. With this said, the UN should not be canned, but reformed. There are some success stories, but there are also many failures. There is a lot of interference from other countries, but it is still a place where dirty laundry can be aired-out (e.g. the veto vote of China and Russia against any intervention in Syria to protect their investments and billions in weapon deals with the repressive Syrian Govt.
Here, the UN will be able to help with education; they can also help with the environment, and both will later benefit the DR.

If it was up to me the UN would be disbanded or moved out of New York. The UN started out as a good idea but failed, history hasn't tough us nothing.

The U.S alone spends billions of of U.S tax dollars yearly on the UN and little to show for. No country under the UN banner should dictate on other nations domestic policy's.

@ Riosm,

That thinking is what allowes (facism, nacism, etc), and it will allow future atrocities to be commited. Not perfect, but at least there is a forum.

Domestic policies? It creates the international standard based on fundamental human rights.
Do your research first before condemning the whole organization!

Successes: UNHCR, UNICEF, and many other branches have tons of sucesses in saving lives. Many diseases are now erradicated because of their work with global immunization programs that still operate today. There is much more than just the security council fiascos. The UN is not just about kicking ass! NATO and the EU can do that quite well when required.
It needs to be reformed to reflect today's realities... Not the Cold War era. It needs not to be abolished, because many people's lifes depends on their help. We still cannot save them all!

Pointless. Like all money handed over to panhandlers, giving welfare to anyone in authority will only be spent by the crooks that first get their hands on the money. "My fren', tengo hambre, give me 5 billion dolares, pleee!"

The UN officials need to boost business. France will sell more cars for the Metro. China will import more stolen infrastructure. The US will sell more food and weapons and technology. India will sell more substandard pharmaceuticals. The DR is a playground to make money.

I thought Medina was one of those with greatest experience in corruption - but I suppose public service means the same as corruption in DR.
