SANTO DOMINGO. - Candida Montilla de Medina is the full name of president Danilo Medina’s wife, who today assumed the Office of the First Lady with a pledge to implement public policies to benefit poor families and especially children.
Montilla also pledged to make her office a place to resolve problems of Dominican families. "Women, children and teens will be at the center of our work."
The first lady unveiled a plaque with the Offices’s new logo, formed by two open hands over a family with the national flag’s colors, red, white and blue.
She said she’ll work tenaciously and literally continue her husband’s slogan: "Hands to work."
The ministers of Education, Josefina Pimentel, of Women, Alejandrina German, of Higher Education, Ligia Amada Melo attended the event, among other officials.

Right now, Medina enjoys what in politics is called, "The Honeymoon".
The change of administrations, with the associated celebrations, are times to feel good.
Generally, this lasts about 100 days.
However, he is smarter than I thought.
I will give this man and his administration the benefit of the doubt for now.
Any effort to make things better should be applauded and encouraged.
He does have a great looking family.
They now realize how lucky they really are.

The first lady sounds like another clueless statists with sexist and feminist tendencies.
She wants to help families resolve their problems by helping Women, child and teens. This is ridiculous.
You want to help families, then you help men find employment and support policies that encourage economic growth - especially for small-medium enterprise that tend to do the bulk of hiring.
A man who is economically viable and stable is a man who drinks less and abuses the family less,
engages in antisocial behavior less, and protects his family.
Focusing on Women, children, and teens is ass backwards. Another policy point imported from the US no doubt - of course, in the US this type of policy only creates one thing: massive dysfunction and ghettos.
