Santo Domingo.- In the next 45 days the Government will call for tenders to design and build "Ciudad Juan Bosch," including the construction of 35,000 houses by the private sector over the next seven years, president Danilo Medina announced Wednesday in a speech before Congress.

The Presidential Commission for the Mortgage Market Development Fund will implement the project on around 3 million square meters, Medina said, noting that the private sector will contribute its own funding, bank financing and bond issues that could be bought by pension funds, and head their construction.

Land titling

The President said development isn’t possible where lands have no titles and promised to provide deeds for around 7,000 farms and urban and rural areas by the end of June, via the State Land Titling Commission.

He said however the government cannot achieve that goal on its own, and called on the Judicial Branch to join forces to bolster the Land Court’s jurisdiction and simplify titling processes.

Medina said the government will issue around 15,000 additional deeds by year’s end, “in other words, we’ll end the year with 20,000 new titles of property."

He said the possession of titles will allow thousands of families to end years of uncertainty, with access to credit and will be encouraged to raise crops on land which belongs to them, adding that the issuing of deeds to more than 150,000 properties, both farmlands and for housing, is the goal for the next four years.

"Two story units on 10 acre parcels" Are you mad?

5 story unit buildings on 1 acre parcels would be more like it. This would provide less Urban sprawl or suburban sprawl, better delivery and control of basic services like water and electricity to the occupants.

When the new titles come .It must be recognized,, That the mafiosa Title fraud gangs like FRANASYL at Punta Rucia, and the gang members like Wilton Romero Aybar, who was jailed and prosecuted 2 years ago and his partner in crime Gregorio Dominguez Who is currently under investigation in connection with the bribery and corruption of the Isabella police , and Isabella fiscal office, as well as the puerto plata fiscals Elvis Garcia and administration supervisor Elva Nunez and some of the judges , currently under investigation by supreme court investigators,
AND certainly, previous court supervisor and senior judge Pedro Balboa, and previous Isabella and Luperon fiscal ,Jose Hernandez who have also been sacked 2 years ago on corruption charges and involvment with the same Franasyl gang,
They should all be excluded from any titles from the ,government, not rewarded by friends in high places, Who are pulling the strings.!!!

We had a deal struck with the ex-government to build almost 10,000 home with state of the art technology at an incredibly low price for the poor. The deal was never signed by the King (despite his promise to do so) after we refused to inflate the price for his stooges. It will never happen. We were recently approached by another investor who wanted to build another 10,000 low cost homes, and we are doing project in Mexico.

First thing they MUST do is create a central location with COMPUTERS where a person can check to see who actually owns the land. I have met numerous people who claim to own the land only to find out they are agents for the owner who may or may not produce the title. The system is still in the 1940's with hand written documents and no land tax records available. Buy a beach front property or even a nice house and find out you were scammed
