Punta Cana, Dominican republic.- The Puntacana Group on Monday announced it will spend RD$45.0 million a corporate social responsibility program to benefit various communities in eastern  La Altagracia province.

Group president Frank Rainieri said instead of costly festivities to mark its 45th anniversary, they’ll use the money to fund social projects in communities, with neighborhood boards and development agencies.

Interviewed on the Revuelta de la Mañana radio program, the tourism mogul said the projects to get funding should range from RD$500,000 to RD$2.0 million.

"This year Puntacana group is 45 years old and we've decided that instead of hosting large parties, we’ll work in three dimensions: with the Puntacana family, company staff, homeowners and communities belonging to Punta Cana and social works for the communities of La Altagracia province," Rainieri said.

Punta Cana is virtually the only successful country in the Caribbean. It would do better if it had it's own border.

I believe he is referring to safety concerns.
It was not at all uncommon for hotel staff to warn guests about
the dangers or the potential hazards one might encounter if they
left the safety and security of a controlled environment.

However, I think that at one time this may have been true, but may no longer
be necessarily accurate. I understand hotel administration has overcome this hurdle by
taking precautionary measures to best protect their interests, tourists with deep pockets.
Unless of course they have figured out a way and done everything possible to contain negative news of any incidents or rumors which might give them bad PR and hinder their multi-million dollar tourism investments. Anything that happens in Punta Cana, stays in Punta Cana.

I didnt mean about your sr, however when you walk outside those luxury hotels the image is still the same as everywhere else, you are still warned by the hotel not to walk late at night alone, you just have to take precautionary measures, that just explains to you plain and simple that crime does exist yet, and maybe Guilermone is right about containing negative incidents throuugh the media.no where is safe even in Las Vegas i was there last weekend , i wanted to walk late at night going one casino to another the homeless, prostitutes ,drunks were all over i felt a little uncomfortable even though its vegas but even that sin city has gone real bad.
