Govt. to fix 800+ homes in one of the capital’s biggest slums

Santo Domingo.- Santo Domingo waterutility (CAASD) director Alejandro Montas on Sunday said president DaniloMedina ordered the rehabilitation and reconstruction of 885 homes in La Cienaga,one of the capital’s biggest slums.

He said the committee appointedby Medina reviewed the dilapidated housing in the community and identified thoseto be repaired.

Montas said a census by CAASD andthe Defense Ministry together with community and church leaders will be givento Medina with the details on how each home will be intervened.

The official added that the DefenseMinistry and the CAASD will submit to Medina the budget to rehabilitate the 885houses.
