Cap Cana, Dominican Republic.- Punta Espada, the first of the three signature golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus at Cap Cana, was selected by the prestigious American magazine Golfweek as the best golf course in the Caribbean and Mexico in its latest ranking published in its November 2008 edition, reaching the prestigious annual list’s top spot and confirming it as the region’s best.
In the Golfweek article recognized writer Bradley S. Klein describes it as having impressive characteristics, incorporating paradisiacal ambiance and surroundings along its course’s entire 18 holes, from which the sea’s immensity is observed, since eight are on the ocean front.
This spectacular backdrop will again host one of the stops for the PGA Tours’ Champions Tour- “Cap Cana Championship” from March 23 to 29 2009, an event staged for the first time with great success in the Dominican Republic earlier this year, and where it’s expected to again be a must for golf lovers.
With this new recognition, golf critics and fans reaffirm its status as one of the world’s most exciting and beautiful courses, and Cap Cana as “the New Great Destination of the World,” preferred for the sport’s total enjoyment, along with fishing and other amenities.
