New York.– The New York Yankees have declined the $6 million contract option on reliever Damaso Marte, officially making him a free agent, the team said.
Left-hander Marte, traded to New York from the Pittsburgh Pirates in July with outfielder Xavier Nady, was bought out for $250,000.
The 33-year-old from the Dominican Republic, who had provisionally filed for free agency on Wednesday, was 1-3 with a 5.40 ERA in 25 appearances for the Yankees. In 47 games for the Pirates, he was 4-0 with a 3.47 ERA, allowing 38 hits and 18 earned runs in 46 2/3 innings.

Mannyberrios, Look up his STATS he was NOT very good with the Yankees, He could not show up to a big game. I wish him the best of luck but he cant take the "HEAT" from NY writers or Fans.
