Santiago de los Caballeros.– For the first time since the Dominican Republic began participating in the Caribbean Series in 1970, the country will field two teams in the annual round-robin tournament.
The teams, Licey and Aguilas, are the two most popular Winter League teams in the country. The rosters read like a who's who of Caribbean Major and Minor League stars.
Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada will lead the top-seeded Aguilas Cibaeñas from Santiago, while Angels infielder Erick Aybar and Cubs outfielder Felix Pie lead a host of talent on the Tigres squad in the 50th anniversary of the tournament.

If only the people took 1per cent of the interest that they put into baseball, (the outcome of which they cannot affect), and put that same interest into the abuses of ALL politicians (something that they can affect, what a wonderful change for the better we would all experiecnce.

LEt's go DR. Let's represent and bring one home! The Caribbean Series needs to include more countries. PR is out. I heard Nicaragua, Guatemala, and another country is possibly joining. This tournament needs to expand.

Yes, the Series needs to expand. Cuba needs to reenter to provide "the real flavour" of baseball. A baseball tournament without Cuba is not a tournament...
