Santiago de los Caballeros.– They sported red, white and blue uniforms, and America's favorite pastime was their game of choice Saturday night in the city's favorite stadium, but the Aguilas' style in the night's finale of Day One of the 2008 Caribbean Series was all Dominican and powerful.

The Aguilas Cibaenas, jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning and used two historic home runs by Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada to cruise past the Obregon Yaquis, 13-6, in front of a rambunctious crowd of flag-waving, horn-blowing and thunderstix-thumping fans at Estadio Cibao in the first game of the series for both teams.

The Aguilas will face Venezuela on Sunday night in the second game of the day. Dominican Republic No. 2 (Licey) defeated Venezuela, 6-4, in the first game Saturday and will face Mexico in Sunday's afternoon game.

"The most important thing was the Dominican support, and not just us, but with Licey also," Tejada said.

"The fans put on a tremendous show, and we wanted to put on a show for them, too. They started it, and we wanted to finish it." The night's finale was preceded by the series' opening ceremonies, a festive tribute to each of the teams and countries participating in the tournament, complete with music, dancers and a host of Dominican stars past and present in attendance.

I really thank Tejada for helping my beloved Aguilas win the national title, but unfortunately his days are counted in the ML. It is clear that he is going to pay the price for others as well as for his wrong doings when it comes to HGH and the use of other illegal substances. MLB knows that it is easier to go after Tajada than Bonds, so he will get the brunt of it as a result. Remember, the Tejada is still under the guess worker mandate, he never became a citizen as many other Dominican players have done in order to save on taxes. Guess workers are taxed the hell out of them by the IRS, but if they become citizens they can save lots of money and be protected under the U.S. constitution for cases such as the one the his in now.

This might be the dumbest comment I have ever heard. It is far eaier for MLB to come after Barry Bonds, and Tejada will NOT get the blunt of the steroid problem in MLB. Barry Bonds broke the most sacred record in all of American Sport. The first person to hold the record was the most coveted baseball player of all time: Babe Ruth. What records has Miguel Tejada broken? What history has Tejada changed? Barry Bonds will get 10 times the brunt then Roger Clemons, and Clemons will get 100 times the brunt that Tejada will get. Tejada is a good player, but NOTHING compared to Bonds, Clemons, Petite, etc. That might have been the dumbest thing I ever ever heard in the steroid discussions. I really wish you had sent that to ESPN.com and let all of the writers have a field day with that. Wow.

cheaters suck. bottom line. no one who cheats in a way to make his body perform at a higher level than others should ever be allowed to play. tejada cheated, and he should be gone. forever. sorry about your beloved player. you remind me of the san fransisco fans who STILL think that Barry Bonds is innocent. I hope that Bonds DOES boycott the hall of fame. he certaintly doesnt deserve to be there.

We'll see bearcat11, who is the dumbest between you and I when you see Tejada under injunction before Bonds. It is clear that you have no knowledge of the American Judicial System whatsoever. This is a legal case and criminal case, not a sport related one, you are simply confused and naive to reject my commnet so rapidly without seeing the outcome. I'll bet you anything that Tejada will be punished before Bonds, eventhough, Bonds' cheating has been document much earlier. The U.S. and MLB does not owe anything to Tejada or DR, but they are afraid of the backlash from the African American community and the many Whites Americans that are supporting Bonds. You should learn about the relationship between money and the most less resitive route to go about doing something that can potentially take millions out of baseball.

No knolwedge of the American Judicial System... thats also a joke. I am a law student at the University of Kentucky. The Judicial System is my life. I am not going to discuss that with you. That is just a dead end conversation that you do not want to get into. No kidding Tejada will be under injunction first. That was NOT what you said in your first comment. You said Tejada will get the brunt rather than Bonds. Bonds' case is much more complicated and much more high profile. When his is settled, he will get the brunt over anyone in the steroid discussion.

Furthermore, MLB is not afraid of backlash from anyone. Tell me that Bud Selig honestly cares what people have thought of him since he took over. He called the All Star game early because of lack of pitching! He still has Pete Rose banned for betting on his own team to win, when there are people like Tejada altering their bodies to outperform that only receive 50 game suspensions. MLB does not give a crap what the public thinks.

The only white americans that give a crap about Barry Bonds are those who care about Giants baseball.

Also, my undergraduate degree was Finance. So don't preach to me about money issues.

Notice how I simply despise cheaters? I don't care if he didn't become a citizen and has higher taxes. Paying the price for others? He will pay the price of himself alone for cheating. Oh, don't get me started on Sammy Sosa either. He was my favorite player. Now I despise him for cheating. Stop feeling sorry for the players that you like. You remind me of all of the people living in San Fransisco.

Please do not throw education in the face of people, because you might be surprised by the fact that they have more education than you. You defenitely did not examined my posting, it is clear what I said and you did not get it, remember that in order for you to be an effective juris, you must have vast critical thinking abilities. Re-read my posting and you will see as I clearly stated that Tejada will be prosecuted before Bonds and will get the brunt of such scandal. Bonds is going to walk away fairly un harmmed from this, but Tejada will be relegated to what Palmeiro was and Bonds will have his chance in the MLB again, not necessarily as a player, but in some limited role. Count on that my friend.

you obv cannot read your own postings. why dont you re-read your own. no where in your first posting does the word "prosecute" appear. no where. you said it would be easier to go after him.

bonds will definitely not walk away unharmed. (thank god as well) and thank god that tejada will walk away harmed as well. cheaters do not have a place in american sport. period.

your points to defend him mean nothing. hes a cheater. get him the hell out of baseball

Mr. bearcat11, I urge to separate your emotions from your brain and speak with your brain and not your heart, this is lesson number in law school, I hope that you have learn it already. Your emotions and convictions are admirable, but it gives you and edge of fanatism, therefore, disminishing your argument in the process. I think that we should allow nature to take its course and then we ought to check each other again, so I can prove my point. My argument is that Tejada will pay a bigger price than Bonds and that he will take the brunt of things, while Bonds walks away with less than what he derseves.
