Boston.– Players bidding for spots on the Dominican Republic's Olympic baseball roster will be in action tomorrow night at Mackenzie Stadium, where they will meet the Holyoke Blue Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League at 6:30.

It's the sixth in a series of seven exhibitions for the Dominicans against NECBL opposition. They will play at Danbury, Conn., today and wrap up their New England visit with a game Tuesday night at Lowell.

"We are one of four all-star teams now playing, and from those teams will come our Olympic squad," said David Valdez, a former farmhand of the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers who spent 12 years in professional baseball.

"I never made it to the big leagues, but baseball is my life. I love the game, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to coach this team," he said.

Other Dominican squads are now playing in Santo Domingo, Panama and Colombia, Valdez said.
