SANTO DOMINGO.- Dominican Republic again claimed the title of the world’s Major League Baseball's top talent factory on Wednesday, when the Oakland A’s signed Michael Inoa, a 16-year-old, 6-foot-7 right-hander who throws 94 mph, to a landmark $4.25 million bonus.

It is “easily” the most any major league team has paid for an international player not from Cuba, wrote newspaper San Jose Mercury News on the deal.

It said the signing “obliterates the A's previous highest bonus to an international player, the $350,000 that Dominican outfielder Robin Rosario received last winter.”
