Beijing.– China continues its undefeated streak in this year's women's volleyball World Grand Prix defeating the Dominican Republic in three sets yesterday while Brazil also overpowered Japan in three.

The confidence of the China team continues to grow, having only dropped seven sets and won all eight games in the three weeks of this years 12 team grand prix competition.

The team never expected to be troubled by the Dominican Republic who failed to qualify for next month's Olympic Games, with the coach looking to use the opportunity to settle his side.

However the current Olympic champions were again their own worst enemy at times with unforced errors letting the Dominicans almost level the score on occasion.

One of the younger team members, 20 year old Wang Yimei, whose errors were criticised by coach Chen Zhonghe after the first game against Japan, again made unnecessary mistakes with five wide and long spikes and two service faults from six.

However the coach will continue to give the younger players court time in an effort to find the best combination before the Beijing Games.

“Sometimes some of the team members are not performing and have some errors,” said Chen.

“Since it is near the Olympic Games the China team hopes through competition to become better and better.”

The Dominican Republic –which yesterday fielded two 16 year old players– didn't expect to defeat China and used the game for experience.

The team is placing its hopes on the last game against Japan today to get its fourth win of the tournament.

Yesterday it struggled to match the speed and skill of the Chinese said captain Cosiri Rodriguez after the match.
