BEIJING.- Juan Carlos Payano staged a great boxing show before more than 10,000 spectators from the moment he entered the ring until leaving with a convincing win against France’s resilient Jerome Thomas.

Payano, who dominated the fight from the start, waged it from a distance and sometimes went inside with the Frenchman, who chased the Dominican from the second round.

"I knew I had to face a dangerous man, but I managed the situation well," said Payano, 24, a native of La Vega province (central).

His coach Pedro Luis Diaz said they were satisfied with Payano’s outing.

I happened to read an article here in China about your great boxer fighting here in China. It says your boxer put a Chinese National Flag around his back and received a thunderous echo from the audience. However I regret to learn that your country has no diplomatic relations with PR of China. Are you thinking of starting a serious relations with China?

Hi James: I wholehardly agree that the Dominican Republic should start diplomatic relations with your great country. It should be seriously explored by both country. I would thinkd it is absurd not to have diplomatic relationship with the greatest emergent economy in the World. My cousin, who is Dominican, was in Beijin for six months learning Chinese. My son has been also in Shanghai as a student.
