Santo Domingo.- In
the opening games of the first edition of
the Final Four Tournament, which takes
place in Fortaleza, Ceará, in the
Northeast of Brazil, the Dominican
Republic defeated Cuba 3-1 and Brazil beat
Argentina 3-0.
In the first match, the Dominicans,
coached by Brazilian Marcos Kwiek, won
25/16, 21/25, 26/24, 25/14, in 1 hour and
42 minutes. The Brazilians, Olympic
champions, had no difficulties to close
their game in 25-19, 25-15 and 25-17, in
69 minutes.
In the Dominican triumph, Bethania was the highlight, with 17 points. Today Argentina will meet Cuba and Dominican Republic will face Brazil, while on Friday, the first match pits Argentina and Dominican Republic and Cuba and Brazil close the activity. The semi finals on Saturday has the first place team against the fourth place, and the second against third.
