Santo Domingo.– Top prospect in the San Francisco Giants organization Angel Villalona has been charged with murder in the Dominican Republic, FOXSports.com reported yesterday.
Villalona, 19, offered to pay the
family of the victim 140,000 dollars to drop the case against him. The
family reportedly has accepted the money.
Villalona, who has pleaded not guilty, could face up to 20 years in prison if the case is heard and he is found guilty.
It'll be interesting to see if Villalona faces any sort of
suspension from the Giants or MLB, or if he is released and given a
second chance elsewhere.

Worthless gusanos, why wouldn't you stand for justice and reject the money and allow this criminal to be tried, convicted and serve his time in jail? You are no better than prostitutes and you shame the memory of your murdered relatives. You contribute to the feeling by these individuals that they could commit crimes against less financial status citizens with impunity because, in the end, not only could they buy off the judge but also the family.
How could you do this to your family? How could you look at your face in the mirror without having to turn your face away? When you negotiate this way, you become the equal of the crime perpetrator, perhaps even worse, for you have prostituted justice and, worst of all, family justice.
Shame on you. No wonder we have such a perverse system of justice!

Fully agree! Yes, it is a lot of money for a family in DR. They must be dreaming that they can have all they want but they have just showed their low value of a life. It's another example of a tendency to accept corruption. How can this mentality change???

US Style secret corruption. Criminals are only such after they have been tried as suspects in a criminal court of law and then even some of those remain wrongfully convicted This is the problem most all americans forget today until they are the ones accused. Fools fools and more fools in this story.

That family is worthless. How could you settle for money after someone kills your loved one. Okay, accepting th money or not will not returned the but yu have to have some dignity!! that is disgusting. My brother was murderd and never, ever would my family had accepted momey in exchange for the murerer not to be prosecuted.
And to the Major Leagues. Please dont't give thsis man a chance. Somewhere there has to be an example set for our youth coming up--that it is not okay to commit crimes and try to buy people's silence. What does it say about the moral character of this individual. It speaks bad of all of us who are of dominican descent.

Ive1055,
No need for apologies, I understand and agree with you 100%.
Been there done that, there is not one Holiday, Birthday, Anniversary, Family reunion and to add Mothers and Fathers day that goes by that I'm not remembered of my Brothers murder also.
To complicate matters my Nephew since 2 years old has been without a Father for over 19 years now, if my Brother was still living he would be proud.
One learns to except there passing but never forget, one learns to forgive but never forget. I remember the first Holidays were the worst, as I stated one learns to deal with the emptiness but one NEVER FORGETS, you see murder makes everyone a victim....
I can only hope justice is served in this case.
