Santo Domingo.– The latest foursome to join the has stepped up to the tee with significant support for children in need. JetBlue, Reebok, vitaminwater and Sharp Electronics were announced as MVP partners for the 2009 David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic, which takes place from December 3-6 at Cap Cana.
The star-studded event benefits the David Ortiz Children’s Fund, providing children in New England and the Dominican Republic access to the pediatric critical care they need to live full and productive lives.“I really value the efforts of JetBlue, Reebok, vitaminwater and Sharp in their sponsorship of the Celebrity Golf Classic,” said David Ortiz. “They make it possible for all of us to gather together, play some golf and raise funds for children who can’t afford the healthcare they need. Their sponsorship allows us to make a significant difference in the lives of these children.”
The inaugural David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic in 2008 netted more than US$300,000. At the tournament, David was joined by MLB players Alex Rodriguez, Mariano Rivera, Torii Hunter, Vladimir Guerrero, Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, Pedro Martinez and some of his Red Sox teammates including Tim Wakefield and Clay Buchholz as well as sports legends Jim Rice, John Havlicek and Bobby Orr.
“The work being done by the David Ortiz Children’s Fund gives children a second chance to fulfill their potential, which is a goal of Reebok,” said Todd Krinsky, vice president of sports and entertainment marketing at Reebok. “The support of his friends and teammates is a true testament to David's dedication. We are honored to be a part of the event.”
