Victor Martinez after winning the Arnold Classic 2007.
Santo Domingo.– IFBB professional bodybuilder Victor Martinez has been implicated in a new steroid scandal exactly two weeks prior to the 2009 Arnold Classic. News reports have surfaced during the Alex Rodriguez steroid investigation implicating Martinez in the sale of anabolic steroids in the Dominican Republic, the website mesomorphosis.com revealed.
After learning that A-Rod’s preferred steroid Primobolan was not legally available in Dominican Republic pharmacies,
reporters searched for other sources of steroids in the country
that included gyms and supplement stores.
According to the New York Daily News, Victor Martinez owns a supplement store in Santo Domingo called “Gurabo” that allegedly sells anabolic steroids, where anyone can walk in and purchase steroids, protein powders and supplements.
Martinez previously won the 2007 Arnold Classic, but Arnold
Schwarzenegger may not be too happy if the “Dominican Dominator” wins
again this year and may decide to skip the trophy presentation
altogether.
That time Scharzenegger was embarrassed
when he was placed in a position where he presented Martinez
with the winner’s trophy and $130,000 first place check only days after Martinez was identified as an unindicted co-conspirator in the nationwide internet pharmacy steroid investigation by the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

It doesn't come as any surpise. All of these professional bodybuilders are walking pharmacies. They take everything and anything that can help them. steroids, HGH, insulin, and thyroid medications too.
Entonces............I guess his troubles are selling steroids and not being a farmacia. As well as selling the few steroids that aren't legal in DR. Asi la vida Victor.

As a former NATURAL BODYBUILDER I can tell you with absolute certainty that the use of Steroids, Human Growth Hormones and Performing Enhancing Drugs in general is a matter of record in professional bodubuilding. There is currently NOT ONE (NONE) professional, IFBB competitor who does not use performing enhancing drugs. NOT A SOLITARY ONE.
During my training years I was approached several times to compete at tournaments; but was always advised that if I wanted to make it a career I would have to use PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs). No buts about it. Wanting to avoid the lithany of side-effects of prolonged PED use, I politely declined. Victor Martinez did what EVERY professional bodybuilder does.

In the US, where I live, steroids use is illegal. It really matters little that everybody in this specific sport uses them as Jacirez purports. As these competitions are sanctioned sporting events, they should be subjected to end of competition chemical testing; if illegal substances are detected, then they should be disqualified and prosecuted for violating our laws.

Belly sorry to say aside from my family and my adopted Dominican family my accomplishments are mundane and ordinary, but due to a very interesting business career I did manage to get drunk in some very interesting places with some of the most interesting and accomplished people who I call my friends..you see I was an International wine and caviar peddler no big deal but interesting and mostly leisurely because business is done over lunch or dinner for the most part.Belly please forgive me if you think I have belittled your accomplishments I admire you for your stamina to acquire your education etc I know it was not easy to compete in America and raise a family you should be proud..please try to imagine how a Boricua feels when some one brings up Rosie the Marathon Runner from Puerto Rico..do not allow yourself the knee jerk reaction you are making to " the cheat " Almonte.he can make 10 million bucks and redeem himself .No Way.or he can go work in a Leper Colony and redeem himself yes

I am laughing my ass off reading the give and take between Belly & Goulet...can't we all just get along? lol. Listen, EVERY nation has it's good and bad, after all, we are all human. We have to expand our thinking, our way of looking at one another's cultures, norms, etc. and be aware that every country has it's history, and it's usually filled with strife and the trampling of some group's rights, pride, traditions, etc. For as history has shown, man can be the most vicious of animals. Steroids? Cheating in a marathon? Where does that compare to the atrocities that have been committed and are being commited all over the world? Beware of casting stones, because I'm sure if we look, that little glass house you're living in will come down really fast. Let's celebrate accomplishments, demand accountability of those that impede positive accomplishments and move on, life is too short.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports....victor_martinez_not_dominica.html"A February 22 Daily News article about purchasing the steroid Primobolan in the Dominican Republic ("Dominican Drug Dilemma") reported that Dominican-born bodybuilder Victor Martinez is the owner of the Santo Domingo supplement store Gurabo.
The store sells protein powders, supplements and steroids. Many steroids are legally sold in the Dominican Republic without a prescription.
Martinez is not the owner of Gurabo, does not live in the Dominican Republic and has not lived there for at least 18 years, according to his attorney, Mike Wilens.
The Daily News regrets the error.
Martinez, 35, is training for the upcoming Arnold Classic bodybuilding competition (March 6-8) in Columbus, Ohio and is looking to regain the title. He placed first at the event in 2007."
