BOSTON.- The Web site Boston.com reports that the details from an upcoming book on Alex Rodriguez by Sports Illustrated's Selena Roberts, states that Major League Baseball’s highest paid player “may have started taking steroids as early as high school and is suspected of continuing his use of performance-enhancing drugs with the New York Yankees.”

The report, based on the New York Daily News article published today, reads: "A-Rod book bombshell," and sates that the "Slugger may have taken HGH while playing for the Yankees" and, "Hints he took steroids as early as high school days."

“The report indicates that a high school teammate of Rodriguez's told Roberts that A-Rod took steroids before being drafted as a No. 1 pick and that his high school coach knew it -- an allegation the coach, Rich Hoffman, denied,” adds the report on the alleged new substance-abuse scandal.

It said the book, “also indicates that two anonymous Yankees said they believed Rodriguez was using banned substances based on visual side effects, which reportedly led to Rodriguez gaining an unflattering nickname that referenced an increased pectoral size comparable to a woman's chest.”

Boston.com adds the report, “also notes that a clubhouse staffer suggested management had a suspicion that the third baseman may have been juicing,” the term referring to the use of a performance-enhancing substance.

Who cares about ball players ? Many overpaid self-centered misfits cant function in the real world without help from some sort of chemical composition. What I think is funny, is the New Yankee Satdium now has a few extra unsold premium seats listed at half price. btw, Madonna used him like a cheap hooker, that is funny too !

Cibaeno,
LOL gandules! too funny.
Juan,
Did the yankees and the mets need to buid new stadiums??? I love going to the old parks Wrigley is me favorite, I like Bostons too. It was a big waste of money, they could have just rehabbed both stadiums and saved some $$$

They couldn't have charged the outrageous prices that they are getting for the new stadiums. Imagine this: the Yankees just reduced theprices of their most expensive seats from $2500 per seat to the bargain price of only $1250.

This book also contains accusations the when ARod played for Texas, if his team was well ahead in a game he would tip off, with hand signals, the pitch that was coming to the batter if he was a friend of A-Rods. Another fine example set by our Dominican players.

Those ticket prices are crazy. Hopefully noone buys them at the 1250 price, and the crapy yanks will be forced to sell them for $200. I love Wrigley, its always a full house

Rich,
people know that he might break the homerun record, so they want to find any excuse so a hispanic wont be on top as the homerun king

XWII7,

you know it boggles my mind how some people criticized him for kissing a mirror,,,unbelievable!!!

Like I said, he has balls for coming forward in front of national TV and had a press conference, while the other 70's, 80's, 90's and 2k, 200-300 or so ball players hide.

Juan,
if you are trying to compete in your job and everyone is taking something for that extra help. You would take it to so you would not loose you job. back then everyone was doing it.

Also,
Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire were the two that helped MLB get out of the slump after the strike. We all know that the NBA was prime when Jordan played. McGuire and Sosa paved the way and MLB is on top because of them. Juice or no juice

So cheating is good, right? Oh you pathetice loser.

And unless I am mistaken you are the same person who thinks using your bright lights on city streets, when unnecessary, is cool. Even though you blind the oncoming cars.

Juan,
cheating is not good. I do not agree, but MLB was aware what was going on. It was just a crazy time. Fans enjoyed the homeruns and the Sosa/McGuire battle, MLB made money, players made money. Juan you can't tell me that you didn't check the news everyday to see if Sosa smacked another one out of the park?

Also, Juan.... Sosa has never been linked to steroids. The other ones yes

Also, I am not an AROD fan. (just for the record)

I have a life and don't need the success of Dominican ballplayers to feel good about myself. I could not have cared less about the homerun race. I care about the human race. And Sosa corked his bat.

I bet if A-Rod was a WASP he would be left alone. But given that he is not and he is making more money than most and beating the Gringos at their own game, they will make his life a living hell. Why didn't these allegations come out when he admitted to steroid use in January? I don't know but there is somenthing really wrong with all this. There is absolutely nothing that A-Rod does that won't make headlines. It is almost like if the media is out to get him just for walking down the street. Leave the man alone.

I guess making that kind of money comes with all of the media attention
