Hong Kong.– The Netherlands withstood a stiff test to
defeat Dominican Republic in straight sets on Saturday in the 2009 women's
volleyball World Grand Prix Hong Kong leg.
The Netherlands took the hard-earned match in 95 minutes, 25-14, 33-31 and 30-28. Dutch ace Debby Stam scored a game-high 17 points, followed by Chaine Staelens with 13.
Bethania De la Cruz de Pena came up with a team-high 14 points for Dominican Republic, while Altagracia Mambru was next with 10.
It was the Netherlands' eighth consecutive win in the tournament and it secured their berth for the final of the Grand Prix, which will be held next week in Tokyo, Japan.
