Buena suerte chicos! No se preocupen por los comentarios que hacen los mezquinos y envidiosos. Ellos son los que nunca logran nada que valga la pena en la vida, y de lograrlo es por medio de engaños

OK the rain has gone and the Dominicans had too many cevezas during the break and lost the doubles in 3 sets and now are 2-1 down with the final singles tomorrow . I predict that the score will be 2 all with the final match to go and in that one I hope young Hernandez plays with a little more patience and guile than on Friday ...it will be a close finish .

OK here is the final result <<< DR HAS WON 3 MATCHES TO 2 AGAINST VENEZUELA..
As predicted , it all came down to the last match in which Garcia took the place of Hernadez and won in straight sets.Earlier, Victor Estrella had won for the DR against Armas of Venezuela in 5 sets.

It was a most extraordinary day as can be expected here with a central court in wonderful condition but really with insufficient space for the line umpires and ball boys and so the players were often on top of the linesmen at the back of the court. The very vocal crowd were also leaning over the low fence and good have chats with the players and umpires ..from the back line to the line umpires was less than 15 feet and to the side fence even less.
There was non stop heckling of the Venezuelan players by a small group of Dominican spectators ( they said they were from the Tennis Federation!!) that was often pure bad sportsmanship and occasionally amusing but the Venezuelan players were complete gentleme

There were some other amazing things: Victor Estrella footfaulted continuously during his match ,,I counted 40 times and people near counted more but was not called once, the Venezuelan captain called for a rain delay when barley a drop had fallen and in the final two sets a disco or dancing class in the buildings behind the courts was blasting out merengue and bacharta at the normal high dominican decibels . I need not state that cel phones and cameras were going off throughout the matches and chatting never stopped .
So now we go up to Group 1 of the Americas zone and this will be tougher but there are many young players coming through. We desperately need a club competition in the DR so everyone can get regular competitive practice and I hope this can be arranged .
So in short , a long but very successful 3 days
