Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez hosted a farewell for the new national Dominican champions Leones of Santo Domingo, who’ll head to Venezuela to compete in the Caribbean Baseball Series which begins Tuesday afternoon.

“I expect the lion’s roar will be heard in Venezuela, since Dominican Republic has an excellent team,” Fernandez said while smiling.

He affirmed that this year the red machinery had a secret which few knew about: which was having a member of the Alou family as general manager and “the results are there,” in reference to Moises Alou.

At least someone should have let some of these ball players know that when meeting a president a suit should be worn. But they do have hummers.
