Isla Margarita, Venezuela. – Santo Domingo’s Leones del Escogido last night crowned a baseball dream year, beating the Leones of Caracas to bring home the Caribbean Series championship.
This is the Leones’ third Caribbean Series crown and a record 18th for a Dominican team, and comes after a season of strongly fought, squeaky victories.
The Tigres of Santo Domingo, the top winners, have 10 pennants and Santiago’s Aguilas Cibaeñas five.
The Leones’ won its two previous championship trophies in Santo Domingo in 1988 and in Miami’s Orange Bowl in 1990.

Looks like this year the Leones will be in the world spotlight, first with Leonel taking care of business with Haiti, Zelaya, and now the DR winning the Caribbean baseball series.
And we ain't even saying nothing, about having the top female actress lead, in the highest grossing movie in the history of cinema, Avatar, with our Zoe Zaldaña!
The DR rules! No matter what the nay sayers murmur!

Congratulations guys and make sure you shower before you come home.
LIE-onel Fernandez is going to give a ride free card for the useless METRO but unfortunately there maybe no water!
Save water or else!
The director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CAASD), Ramon Rivas, has called on the population to ration the use of water because of the current drought problem and “because the vast majority of water used in its systems is superficial, so when there is drought the flow of water in the rivers decreases.”
Rivas asked the population “not to waste water, just use what is necessary and be patient with the current distribution of the water.” The director acknowledged that there is usually very little rainfall over the next few months, and that “water supply schedules have been changed” due to the shortage. He said that they would investigate the situation in areas where people have no water at all.

josean,
most bathrooms at the local colmado have sinks where the water runs all day... If half of the faucets in DR were repaired... you would see water savings...more water dams are coming

We all know that people in the DR waste water like no one else in the plante, even Americans fall short to our wastefull ways. People need to be educated abour water resources since they waste it without ever thinking about it twice. Not just broken water fixtures need to be fixed, but people's mentality especially in the barrios were hoses are left to run non stop and water leaks are never fixed by the owners or the authorities.
